Company Overview:
Gaumont is seeking an Director, Finance to join our Team. This person will report to the Chief Financial Officer and be based out of West Hollywood, CA.
Responsibilities include:
• Managing monthly/annual corporate cashflow and budgets, handling treasury and cash management duties.
• Managing financial reporting to parent company.
• Creating financial valuation models for film/TV projects based on sales projections
• Creating valuation waterfalls for distribution team when looking to acquire projects.
• Work with the finance team on month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing with accounting tasks including, but not limited to:
o Completing monthly bank reconciliations for corporate bank accounts and credit cards.
o Completing monthly, quarterly, and annual adjusting journal entries and accruals related to fixed-asset depreciation, intangible asset amortization, loan interest, payroll, inter-company transactions, foreign currency revaluations, residuals, profit participations, etc., as well as maintaining related schedules.
o Completing quarterly accounting schedules for reporting to French parent company.
o Uploading financial statements to French accounting system.
o Working with external accountant to review compilation financial statements.
• Managing corporate accounting books through Quickbooks Online software, with tasks including, but not limited to:
o Generating and analyzing accounting reports, including Balance Sheets, Profit and Loss Statements, Statements of Cash Flows, Accounts Receivable Aging Reports, etc.
o Reviewing transactions downloaded from bank accounts daily.
o Creating financial, operational and management presentations as needed.
• Assisting finance team with external audits from guilds, networks, accounting firms, etc.
Skills / Qualities We're Looking For:
• Highly proficient in Excel, experience with Quickbooks Online a plus.
• Highly motivated to own major accounting processes and work autonomously.
• Ability to process a large volume of transactions and scrutinize large data sets with a high level of accuracy.
• Ability to learn quickly, self-review, check your work, develop systems to catch errors, learn from mistakes, and most importantly, never make the same mistake twice!
• Forward thinker who can conceptualize the need for and effectively implement process improvements.
• Curious, passionate, and enthusiastic about entertainment accounting.
• Willingness to challenge the status quo, to advocate for Gaumont culture, and to always act in Gaumont's best interest.
Education / Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• Production / entertainment industry accounting background preferred.
• 3 - 5 years of relevant experience.
• CPA license preferred.
