FX Productions is seeking a Director of Development and Production to join the Global Programming team in Los Angeles, reporting to EVP of Global Programming. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, passionate and able to work well in a team and alone. They will have proven development and production experience, a flare for identifying talent and an understanding of the global television landscape.
Responsibilities
• Identify writers and producers for television development.
• Identify TV formats, books and other source material.
• Attend pitch and general meetings.
• write coverage for scripts and source material.
• Work closely with writers to develop story and scripts.
• Participate in notes calls and meetings.
• Watch cuts and dailies and participate in production calls and meetings.
• Maintain relationships with agents, managers, producers and network partners.
• Provide assistance to local regions for their programming and development needs.
• Attend domestic and international TV conferences and festivals to further relationships with potential partners when necessary.
Qualifications
• College degree. Related field strongly preferred.
• Minimum 5 years relevant work experience.
• Minimum 2 years of executive level experience in development and/or current programming at a studio, network, or production company.
• General understanding of the international TV marketplace.
• Strong relationships with agencies, management companies and producers.
• Avid reader.
• Knowledge of television (past and present).
• Knowledge of story structure.
• Ability to generate creative ideas for projects.
• Excellent communication skills - verbal and written.
• Must be a team player.
• Ability to multi-task, organize and schedule work effectively.
• Must be detail-oriented.
• Must be able to work flexible hours, including overtime, when necessary.
Division Description
Global Programming acquires, develops, produces, and co-produces global TV scripted dramas for our 250 cable networks outside of the US, reaching over 1.6 billion cumulative households. We identified THE WALKING DEAD at a script stage and acquired all international rights for the series. We pioneered a global release strategy, which also included DA VINCI's DEMONS and WAYWARD PINES. We developed and are producing Robert Kirkman's next drama series OUTCAST, premiering in June on Cinemax in the US and on FOX Channels globally.
