This is a Full Time Job
American Idol is seeking a socially driven individual to help create and execute social media strategy, produce custom digital content that grows our community and engagement, and manage social media accounts and
assets. If you love social media, pop culture and television and are a pro at making memes and Instagram Stories, this job is for you.
The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of best practices on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube and an eye for breakout moments. The role requires a progressive thinker and trendsetter who can seamlessly integrate and expand a television broadcast using social media. You have experience managing an editorial calendar and publishing daily content, writing copy and captions for social platforms, and interacting with a community of followers. You are capable of producing and shooting short-form videos for digital. You are well-versed in social analytics and able to track growth and evolve content for higher levels of engagement. You consider yourself organization-obsessed and would enjoy managing digital files and assets. This position works in tandem with show production, and the ideal candidate is comfortable working on set and interacting with talent and producers. This is a full-time, run-of-show position.
Responsibilities
• Support strategy, production & execution of all content for American Idol digital platforms, including but not limited to: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube
• Work with the team to establish and maintain an authentic and relateable social voice that increases engagement and improves the viewer experience
• Daily posting and community engagement across social platforms
• Organize and manage all digital assets on both physical and cloud drives
• Curate content for American Idol website and app
• Generate creative ideas for digital content and digital elements within broadcast
• Manage communications and content capture for all contestants
• Support communications and content capture for all show talent
• Monitor digital analytics across platforms to track show, talent & contestant social growth and identify opportunities to increase engagement
• Contribute to regular reports on digital progress and goals
• Review show footage to identify potential viral moments for digital and broadcast
• Identify opportunities to drive television ratings & establish partnerships via digital content
• Other duties as assigned
Desired Characteristics:
• Snappy copy-writing skills that make us smile and laugh
• Pop culture fanatic who can create fun content that incites conversation
• Proven understanding of digital trends, social media best practices and emerging platforms
• Ability to pitch creative content ideas as well as take direction
• Familiar with digital equipment & tools to produce, shoot and clip short-form video content
• Basic proficiency in Photoshop and Premiere, social media schedulers, GIFs and memes
• Additional video editing and graphic design experience is a plus
Requirements
• Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience producing content for digital platforms
• Undergraduate degree in communications, entertainment, new media, marketing, advertising, public relations or related fields is preferred
• Strong understanding of best practices across social platforms, including but not limited to: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-based environment
• Self-motivated and detail-oriented, with excellent time management and interpersonal skills, and the ability to function well on a collaborative team
• Must be willing to work in Burbank, CA and on set in and around Los Angeles
• Must be willing to travel, including ability to drive long distances
• Must have work authorization to work in the United States
• Must be 21 years or older
• Must have ability to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings when necessary to production and show schedule
• Personal computer/laptop and cell phone preferred (will be compensated for work use)
