FOX Sports Digital is looking for a Freelance Writer/Editor focused on producing gambling content to join our editorial team. You love sports gambling content that helps fans get smarter about upcoming games across the entire sports world. You are versatile, able to write and edit several stories cleanly and efficiently daily. You have strong news judgment while also understanding the sports, teams, and stars that matter most to the FOX Sports audience. A passion and expertise in soccer is preferred.
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Inform and support FOX Sports Gambling's editorial calendar and content budget, planning for upcoming events, major milestones, and content themes
• Help maintain a daily calendar of World Cup gambling content, managing odds files, bylined writer files, and any other stories related to the tournament
• Display outstanding news judgment, skilled storytelling ability, expertise in sports gambling, thorough knowledge of digital best practices (including SEO, social platforms, and content sharing), and a strong knowledge of journalistic principles and methods
• Work directly with gambling talent to evolve content across all digital platforms, from written to video
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
• Bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field of study preferred, or equivalent experience
• Experience covering sports in a newsroom environment
• Strong interest in and knowledge of sports across verticals, preferably international soccer
• Strong interest and knowledge of FOX Sports properties, shows, and on-air talent
• Strong knowledge of AP style, and a clear and crisp writing style
• Ability to work quickly and cleanly under the pressure of a deadline-driven environment
• Ability to be flexible and work holidays as needed
NICE TO HAVE BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER
• 5+ years of copyediting training/experience
Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $28.85-40.38 per hour.
