Fox News is looking for a Technical Operations Scheduling Supervisor to join the DC bureau team. As the Technical Operations Scheduling Supervisor, you will be responsible for scheduling technical staff across various programs in a 24/7 breaking news environment. This position also acts as a liaison between technical managers, supervisors, producers, and staff in the coordination of technical program coverage of our bureau.
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Exercise independent judgment and create weekly schedules for transmission operators, control room crew, and studio techs.
• Update and manage changes in daily/weekly schedules when needed
• Answer sick calls from tech ops and provide coverage
• Work closely with Director of Operations to coordinate open shifts and implement new program changes
• Help maintain and cover schedules for DC editors including Edge and O&Os
• Confer with Director of Operations, Director of Engineering, Editing Manager and department supervisors to provide input on crew schedules and staffing decisions
• In connection with supervisor responsibilities, supervise crew and provide any relevant input concerning performance of crew during Editing Manager's and Director of Operations absence
• Help recruit, interview, select, hire and schedule training for crew members
• Complete payroll approvals weekly
• Provide input and appraisals concerning crews' performance and input on decisions on reassigning crew members
• Responsible for finding sick and vacation relief coverage.
• Provide coverage for any last-minute programming changes and live broadcasts
• Interact with NY Production and NY Operations to crew visiting shows
• Distribute weekly schedule in a timely fashion
• Provide show reports when needed
• Perform such other duties reasonably required for the position as determined by Operation and Engineering Directors
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
• 3–5 years of experience in a television environment
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work across multiple groups/levels in an organization
• Strong organizational skills, good time management skills, and ability to make difficult decisions under time constraints
• Strong verbal and written communication skills required
• Ability to multitask and prioritize
• Must have a positive attitude
• Excellent computer application skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Quip, Box)
• A broad understanding of all key components of studio and control room environments
• Ability to work flexible hours and days, including weekends and holiday
