Full Time Job
We are looking for a Field Technician to join our Chicago Bureau. As a Field Technician, you will be provided countless opportunities to work with field photographers, satellite truck operators, engineers, producers, and reporters – both in the field and in the studio.
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Operate satellite trucks
• Basic ENG field photography
• Studio camera operation for live shots and guests
• Single camera and multiple camera set-ups
• Audio for single and multiple camera set-ups
• Basic lighting for newsgathering and long formats
• Basic non-linear editing
• Safely drive company owned and rental vehicles
• Extensive, last minute travel for breaking news
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
• Minimum of three (3) years newsgathering experience
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work well with field photographers, satellite truck operators, engineers, field producers, and reporters
• Ability to multi-task in the field
• Varied technical TV media experience that will translate well into the fast-paced field newsgathering environment
• Working knowledge of field audio mixers
• Ability to mix and route audio for multiple camera shoots
• Proficient in mixing live remotes with IFB communications
• Experience with video photography and non-linear video editing
• Experience with lighting technologies, microwave trucks, and satellite newsgathering vehicles
• Must have a CDL or clean driving record
• Flexible work schedule to adapt to a 24-hour news organization, including overtime and weekends
• Nonstandard work schedule, including overtime and weekends
NICE TO HAVE, BUT NOT A DEAL BREAKER
• Willingness to be trained to drive a larger vehicle
• Willingness to learn drone operation and obtain FAA Remote Pilot License
• Willingness to expand your knowledge of all aspects of field production
• Willingness and availability to travel last-minute frequently
