Associate Producer – Big Ten Network (IATSE Local 762 MICR Union)
The Big Ten Network is looking for an Associate Producer to join the team in Chicago. This position reports to the Sr. Coordinating Producer of Remote Production and will require the incumbent to join the Big 10 IATSE Local 762 MICR Union. As the AP, you will take the lead on all graphics for programs originating from our MICR studios and act as a support position for the Associate Producers onsite for our truck shows. Additional responsibilities include game research and statistical analysis for each event. It is expected that our AP's will assist producers with creative graphic development, securing relevant statistics and headshots/action photos from each of the Big Ten Schools. Developing a close professional relationship with the Sports Information Directors from each of the B1G schools will be very important in this position and knowledge of all the college sports we cover is imperative.
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with Remote Production Producers & Coordinating Producers in planning game productions
• Work closely with the show producers to prioritize graphic requests and submit orders to the Graphic Department in a timely fashion as game schedules are released
• Research game notes & search other sources for storylines
• Communicate with Sports Information Directors from each school
• Speak with game talent and collaborate with them on storylines and graphic support for those storylines
Work with MICR production crew on LIVE broadcasts
• Assist VIZ operators during shows by organizing all graphic requests and feeding game information in a clear and concise manner during show builds
• Follow game flow and create relevant key graphics during the live show ( i.e. records, stats, runs, etc. )
• Access and manage the on-air look of all graphics as they are being created and correct or improve before sending them to air
• Act as a final stop to check spelling, accuracy, framing and overall design aesthetic
Work with Engineering
• Work with the Director of Engineering, Assistant Chief Engineer, and Senior Remote Engineer, as they are responsible for the maintenance and equipment of the VIZ graphic units. Let them know about issues as they occur and also help with scheduling should maintenance be required
Research and stay current on college athletics
• Watch other sports broadcasts & read social media or related sports blogs to stay current on happenings in the Big Ten Conference and beyond
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
• Overall solid knowledge of and p assion for sports
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent knowledge of the Big Ten conference and each of the sports covered
• Great organizational skills due to the number of productions & layout of show formats
• Excellent people management and coordination skills
• Good with statistical data
• Great intuition to make crucial judgment calls
• Knowledge with Excel spreadsheets
• Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
• Self-motivated and able to have conversations with multiple levels of personnel
NICE TO HAVE BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Broadcast, or a related field
Basic understanding of remote television production
