Fox is looking to add an attorney to its corporate business and legal affairs team. This position will play a key role in structuring, drafting, negotiating, and analyzing a variety of agreements relating to TV and digital advertising, brand sponsorships, integrations, and product placements, co-promotions, custom content production, and advertising industry events. The attorney will also help advise on a wide range of legal and business ad sales issues, from regulatory requirements and industry standards to implementing new and evolving advertising formats, to reviewing sales and marketing materials from proposal through execution stages.
The successful candidate will be able to skillfully balance both legal and business considerations in advising Fox's executive leadership on strategic options and risk analysis. This role supports Ad Sales groups across the Fox organization including in Entertainment, Sports, News, and other Fox business units, is fast-paced, challenging, and collaborative, and provides a great opportunity for a dynamic lawyer who thrives in an always evolving environment.
As the company begins to shift from remote working, this position will be expected to be able to work from our offices in Los Angeles or New York on at least a hybrid basis.
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Draft, negotiate, and review a range of advertising agreements across all media including insertion orders, sales partnership agreements, custom content production, social media/influencer campaigns, ad tech agreements, and other deals related to the company's ad sales businesses.
- Advise on issues impacting Fox's ad sales business units related to compliance with internal company policies and procedures as well as legal and regulatory requirements including FTC, FCC, consumer promotions, and privacy law requirements,
- Conduct contract analysis and provide ongoing risk analysis in connection with a variety of matters.
- Build trust and drive strong relationships with internal stakeholders.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
- JD received from an ABA-accredited U.S. law school
- 3-5 years of law firm or in-house media experience
- An excellent negotiator with strong drafting skills
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills (including over Zoom/teleconference)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic, creative environment
- Proficiency in multi-tasking and managing competing priorities under time constraints
- Exceptional relationship management skills
- Demonstrated ability to balance necessary legal protections with practical business needs
NICE TO HAVE BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER
- Experience at an entertainment-focused law firm, or a media, advertising, or technology company
- Experience negotiating and drafting ad sales and marketing agreements
- Familiarity with IAB 3.0 (and similar) terms for digital advertising
- Admission to the State Bar of California or New York or eligibility for Registered In-House Counsel
