Assignment Editor, Weather Reporting

FOX Weather is looking for a highly motivated and proactive Assignment Editor to join our team. The Assignment Editor must have strong news judgment and the ability to handle multiple breaking stories in our fast-paced network newsroom environment. You will work closely with reporters, photographers, field producers, assignment editors, producers and bookers as well as other Fox teams on multiple platforms. You will also have prior experience pitching stories, writing and selecting/building elements in a collaborative team environment. The Assignment Editor is well-versed in weather, news, and current events, as well as innately curious about everything else.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Execute editorial direction and story assignments for FOX Weather field crews
• Execute coverage plans for major weather events and projects
• Assist with field crew movement and logistics
• Collaborate with other FOX News Media platforms
• Approve scripts and live reporting content
• Assist with newsgathering

WHAT YOU WILL NEED
• Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field of study is preferred, or equivalent experience
• 2-4 years of network or major media market newsgathering experience
• Knowledge and experience in covering national and regional breaking news stories
• Experience coordinating field teams
• Strong editorial judgment
• A passion for current events, breaking news and storytelling
• Problem-solving abilities

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is: $73,000.00-92,000.00 annually for New York City and Westchester County, NY. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
