WJZY-TV, FOX 46 in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Production Technician. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operation of the studio and its equipment during live and recorded production. These duties cover the operation of studio cameras, lighting console, video monitors, floor direction, light studio maintenance, studio cleaning, and other duties as assigned. Other Duties include: Operation of multiple studio configured cameras and proficient floor direction during fast paced newscasts, breaking news, and special projects. Operation and strong knowledge of a PC based lighting console, that utilized DMX addressing of all LED studio fixtures. Assist the audio operator in microphone placement on guests, conduct microphone checks, battery swaps during broadcasts, and other trouble shooting from the studio. Studio responsibilities are the daily setup prior to each newscast, checking equipment early and reporting any issues or concerns to the Engineer on Duty or the Production & Operations Manager so they can be repaired or addressed. Knowledge of studio backup systems, and how to engage them in a timely manner. Depending on need and the mastery of this position, there are many opportunities to be trained in many aspects of live production, news, and master control operations. Must be able to work overtime, weekends and holidays, with a flexible schedule to accommodate breaking news and weather event coverage is required of this position. The ideal candidate for this position must understand that news is unpredictable. (Shifts may be expanded for breaking news coverage.) Associate's degree in television broadcasting Production/Engineering) preferred. Minimum 2 years' production experience in commercial television with heavy emphasis on news production and associated systems.
