The successful candidate will be able to wear ''both hats.'' Some shifts will involve being in the hot seat during newscasts, lifestyle shows, and other live programming as warranted – using Ross Automation, iNews, Chyron and other broadcast software and hardware. As production technician, you will regularly direct live and taped programming, while assisting or backing up other shows on the same shift – whether as an AD, audio operator or other role. During other shifts, you will thrive as a precise video editor, ensuring stories come to life with the best possible visuals. We are seeking an editor who is familiar with a diverse array of video editing techniques, who understands that their work will be showcased in a variety of media: television newscasts, digital media, specials & documentaries, and social media posts.
Requirements: Members of the production team at FOX 13 are leaders and collaborators on our news team. The successful candidate will communicate well under pressure. The control room setting can be hectic at times, but the right director is always calmly in control. Must have experience directing live daily newscasts on an automation system and be comfortable during unscripted moments like breaking news or other live events. Our editing team uses Edius to cut video, but experience on similar non-linear editing platforms like Avid or Final Cut is also acceptable. You should be familiar with basic journalistic editing functions, as well as advanced techniques and effects that can enhance traditional video. The successful candidate will possess superior editorial judgement, work well in a deadline-driven environment, and be capable of editing video quickly, accurately, and creatively. This is a full-time, regular shift, but the news business is a 24/7 world and schedules can occasionally change due to vacation relief, breaking news, or other staffing requirements.
