We are looking for a Transmission/Broadcast Engineer to provide engineering support for transmission operations and studio operations for Fox Sports Pico. The Transmission/Broadcast Engineer supports the functionality of all stages, production control rooms, media bays (Audio, Edit, Graphics), data systems, and other related broadcast
infrastructure 24/7/365. The engineer will also support all transmission equipment including satellite IRD's, L-Band routers, transmission control systems, ASI routers, satellite downlinks, MATV systems, fiber optic links and IP transport stream encoders and decoders. This hands-on individual will manage and maintain all broadcast and IT equipment and systems used in the daily operation of the facility as well as any ancillary systems used in the support and troubleshooting of technical issues as they arise. The Broadcast Engineer will also work closely with other engineers/technicians in developing their knowledge and understanding of the various needs of the facility.
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Operational/Technical support of @Home broadcast productions
• Provide technical facility check-in with remote technical operation for Fox Sports @Home productions
• Provide Tier 1 troubleshooting and issue resolution for Fox Sports @Home productions
• Work with Production Teams and Technical Supervisors to resolve any day-to-day issues with all on-air and off-air equipment, from manufacturers such as Evertz, ROSS, SSL, Grass Valley, MediaKind, Calrec, RTS, Studer, and VIZ
• Work with Post Production groups to resolve any issues related to their workflows, which includes systems and software from HP, Dell, Apple, Adobe, and Pixit
• Work with Transmission Operations to resolve any day to day transmission issues
• Familiar with remote broadcast check in procedures
• Responds to equipment outages, malfunctions, and related technical problems
• Conducts diagnostic testing, repair and replacement activities
• Assist in providing solutions and services in the design, development, modification, implementation and maintenance of technical infrastructure
• Documents equipment maintenance and repair
• Complete routine procedures to insure proper functionality of equipment throughout the facility (scheduled reboots, backups, upgrades, maintenance, etc.)
• Assist with a multitude of large and small projects aimed at upgrading equipment and other assets throughout the facility
• Work closely with our integration team on the completion of projects, equipment replacement, and upgrades around the facility
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
• Minimum of 5 years' experience troubleshooting in a large scale broadcast facility
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a field related to Broadcast Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Computer Science
• Proven track record of experience in a broadcast or similar Engineering role involving maintenance, configuration, troubleshooting, of an equivalent multi-network broadcast environment involving play-to-air systems in both HD legacy baseband (SDI) and H.264 TS IP
• Thorough understanding of WAN and Satellite IP transport technologies and codecs, including J2K, MPEG2, H.264 and HEVC
• Thorough understanding of satellite operations including L-Band, satellite receivers/encoders and ASI
• Thorough understanding of remote transmission production workflows
• Thorough understanding of video/audio processing tools specific to upconversion/downconversion, upmix/downmix, level control, latency control and embedders and de-embedders
• Thorough understanding of multiviewer configuration and repair
• Understanding of tally systems
• Identify signal parameters and troubleshoot issues using test equipment including waveform monitors, vector monitors and audio distortion analyzers
• Knowledge of existing television standards including 1080P and High Dynamic Range with a developing knowledge of SMPTE 2110, Dante, and AES 67
• An intuitive understanding of signal flows and thorough knowledge of all types of broadcast signals (SDI, MADI, IP, etc.)
• Experience with post production workflows (data storage systems, craft editing, media/data transfer systems, etc.)
• Experience with broadcast and IP troubleshooting/analysis tools
• Experience with network infrastructure including routers & switches, Firewalls, and VPNs with an understanding of TCP/IP, routing, access control, security, firewalls and network traffic analysis
• Familiarity with design and configuration of ACLs, VLANS, Port Security, Traffic Policing, IP Multicast
