The Big Ten Network (BTN) is seeking a freelance Designer/ Editor based in Chicago. Responsibilities will include conceptualizing and executing high end content for the network with a primary focus on digital and social platforms and a secondary focus on linear television. The Designer/Editor will work closely with both the Digital Media and Marketing Departments. This a freelance position (September-April) offering up to 40 hours per week. This position will report to the Creative Service Director and will be based in Chicago, Illinois.
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Work closely with Digital Media/Marketing to develop and produce high-impact video for multi-platform BTN channels (digital, social, broadcast)
• Deliver platform-specific content for digital and social platforms (BTN.com, FOX Sports App, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube)
• Produce digital creative optimized for sharing and serve as a champion for mobile-first design and development
• Produce BTN out of home creative for print and in-arena assets
• Be a visual storyteller by creating content that will be native to digital and social platforms
• Manage the production of real time reactions to breaking Big Ten news and live coverage of BTN events
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
• Bachelor's degree with emphasis on digital media production preferred or equivalent experience
• 1-2 years of experience producing custom content for digital and linear use
• Strong knowledge of digital video production related techniques and on-line content management systems
• Has an established ability to create and produce compelling stories; generates and executes ideas, from concept to execution
• Proficiency with technology platforms and graphic design software packages (After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, 3D Software) required
• Familiarity with Adobe Premiere is preferred, but not required
• Demonstrated production/editing experience with intercollegiate athletics programs or professional sports teams is strongly preferred
• Must be organized, detail oriented, proactive and a team player
• Demonstrated ability to meet strategic deadlines in a dynamic environment
• Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
• Possesses a deep knowledge of Big Ten Athletics and pop culture
• Familiarity with Big Ten Network's programming, talent, and brand initiatives
