FOX Sports is looking for an Assignment Desk Coordinator to join our team in Los Angeles, CA. The Assignment Desk Coordinator is responsible for supporting the daily newsgathering efforts for FOX Sports and its entities. Duties can include but are not limited to answering phones and emails, downloading and posting of videos, handling requests, ensuring events are properly recorded and booking feeds, studios and homecams as assigned. This position also requires communication skills needed to acquire video materials and clearance.
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Newsgathering for all FOX Sports programming by sourcing of content and sharing with affiliates and FOX/FS1 production
• Coordinate with Production on newly acquired content
• Clearly communicate with co-workers, producers, and outside vendors and networks
• Acquisition and clearance of media from non-FOX entities via social media, emails, or licensing
• Monitor the sports news cycle for storylines and sound to support both FOX Sports productions and FOX affiliate requests
• Monitor video feeds, setting up live event records and confirming content is being recorded and archived properly
• Alert managers regarding potential copyright violations or improper usage of content
• Identify and navigate bonded-cellular, fiber, IP-based transmission solutions for live shots from remote studios and homecams across all platforms
• Prevent misuse of non-Fox owned content
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
• 2+ years of editorial experience required, preferably in a newsroom environment
• Proven sports knowledge - teams, players, coaches, key names - of entities in which FOX Sports owns broadcast rights to: NFL, MLB, College Football, FIFA World Cup, NASCAR, USFL and more
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize accordingly to department standards
• Top candidates will have strong communication skills -- both written and verbal and excellent organizational skills (the ability to prioritize projects under tight deadlines)
• Critical thinking to judge if a story is newsworthy, if sources need to be checked/wording is appropriate, if there is a risk to releasing certain information, and to verify accuracy and consistency of information
NICE TO HAVE BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER
• BS/BA in Journalism, Communications, Media, or a related degree
• Basic knowledge of newsroom systems including iNews, Smartsheet, and GSuite
• Knowledge of using FTP, file transfer mechanisms, and LiveU
Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $23.50-27.25 per hour. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
