JOB DESCRIPTION
''The Five'' is looking for an exceptional Associate Producer to join our team. As an Associate Producer on ''The Five,'' you will be responsible for pitching stories, creating research packets, coordinating video elements and graphics and work hands-on with ''The Five'' co-hosts to execute their needs. Additionally, you will need strong editorial skills to produce compelling and unique television. If you are creative, eager, forward-thinking and love working in an unpredictable environment, this job is for you!
When everyone else goes right, ''The Five'' goes left and we want an Associate Producer that can navigate through the fun. We are seeking a team player with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn who is comfortable working under tight deadlines in a fast- paced news environment.
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Produce daily segments for live air
• Pitch stories on a wide array of topics that can range from politics to culture to the latest crazy food trend to what's trending on Twitter. You will be encouraged to look beyond the big headlines of the day to help create new and fresh conversations
• Create research packets that serve as the foundation of our anchors preparation
• Find the best sound bites, video and graphics to help support your segment and tell the story in the most engaging way possible
• React quickly to breaking news during major events.
• Write banners, cut video and, on the rare occasion, book guests
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
• At least 2 years of news production experience on a national level
• Solid news judgment and a grasp of politics and current events
• Ability to meet quick deadlines and react to rapid news developments
• Familiarity with iNEWS, ARDOME and VIZ precut
• Control room and breaking news experience
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
