FOX Entertainment Studios is seeking a seasoned Director of Unscripted Production to join our Unscripted & Alternative team. The Director, Unsripted Production is a critical part of the operational engine that powers our most innovative content. Working in close partnership with Senior Vice President and Vice President of unscripted productions, the Director will help oversee the full lifecycle of unscripted projects-from early development through physical production and final delivery-ensuring projects are executed on time, on budget, and at the highest quality.
This position is ideal for a production lead who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and excels at solving complex logistical challenges across both domestic and international productions.
Regular, on-site attendance at the workplace for a minimum of four (4) days per week is an essential function of the position. The selected candidate must be able to reliably meet this requirement.
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Production & Project Management
• Support the end-to-end execution of unscripted productions, from development through delivery
• Serve as a point of contact for production logistics, aligning field teams and studio operations
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring efficiency in a fast-paced environment
• Support SVP and VP of Production for all production needs across development and current series
Budgeting & Fiscal Oversight
• Develop, manage, and track detailed production budgets using industry-standard tools
• Identify cost efficiencies while maintaining creative integrity
• Oversee cost reporting, accounting coordination, and financial reconciliation
Scheduling & Operations
• Build and maintain comprehensive production schedules and calendars
• Anticipate and resolve potential production bottlenecks
• Coordinate studio and field production activities across all phases (pre-pro through wrap)
Development & Pre-Production Support
• Partner with development teams to assess feasibility and provide preliminary budgets
• Translate creative concepts into actionable production plans
• Provide logistical insight for new projects
Production Execution & Coordination
• Hire and manage crew, vendors, and production resources
• Oversee location scouting, permitting, contracts, and releases
• Coordinate shoots, including studio and field production workflows
• Manage deliverables, including edits, final masters, and delivery requirements
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure seamless execution
Administrative & Leadership Duties
• Maintain production reports, schedules, and documentation
• Execute vendor agreements and manage accounts payable processes
• Lead communication across executives, talent, and crew
• Perform additional duties as assigned by senior leadership
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
• 8+ years of television production management experience within a U.S.-based studio or production company
• Proven experience managing unscripted or alternative programming
• Experience with both studio and field production environments
• Advanced proficiency in Movie Magic Budgeting and Microsoft Excel
• Strong understanding of production accounting, cost tracking, and reporting
• Strong communication skills with the ability to lead and influence across all levels
• Deep knowledge of union (IATSE, DGA, SAG-AFTRA) and non-union production workflows
• Familiarity with international production logistics, including carnets, local crews/fixers, and tax incentives
• Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities
• Detail-oriented with a proactive, problem-solving mindset
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
NICE TO HAVE BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER
• Global production experience
• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience
Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $102,000.00-120,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
