We are seeking an experienced Manager of Development who has a passion for children's programming in support of a new studio initiative with a particular eye to animation. This is a self-starting role that requiring a responsible individual to bring in new talent from the animation and comedy worlds. The successful applicant will share a creative point of view that represents Fox Digital Studios' initiatives, but also provide their own honest input and opinions with the team. They will work with the VP and EVP to strategize pitches, projects, and future creative content goals. Our content embraces series, films, documentaries, branded content, as well as short form.
Successful candidate will be self-motivated, collaborative, flexible, and able to pivot between projects of different genres and scope. They must be able to adapt to the ever-changing nature of digital streaming. She/he should have qualified experience working in development and production, having a strong knowledge of the global network of Children's Animation creators. We are a small team, so the role will be hands on in other areas as well such as, Casting, Legal & Finance, Music, etc.
Responsibilities:
Support all aspects of development of new Digital properties from concept to pilot including oversight of in-house development talent.
This position is to specifically support FDS's new initiative in Children's Animation, which augments our ongoing and eclectic mix of Documentary, Horror, Sci-fi and Fantasy.
Strong creative skills with regard to evaluating and giving notes on pitches, scripts, storyboards, rough cuts, casting, music and mixes. Proven knowledge of story and script structure.
Collaborate with Casting, Music, Production, Legal and Finance departments throughout the development process.
Cover and have a finger on the pulse of the creative community, including attending comedy shows, film and television festivals, and any other showcase of talent.
Deepen FDS reach into the short form community by finding and attracting new talent into the studio. Builds and maintains trusted relationships with talent, agents and industry executives.
Represent FDS's creative point of view, uphold network standards and production guidelines on all projects.
Support VP and EVP in all internal and external duties, including pitching concepts to upper management, writing treatments and sizzle scripts, and convincing key talent and executives about the value of any given project.
Additional experience in Genre and/or Documentary a plus.
Qualifications
- 5 years' experience in development and/or current series production
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Passionate about animation and kids programming
- In-depth knowledge of the animation, visual effects, comics, related disciplines and industries
- Deep industry contacts to artists, agents, writers, filmmakers and executives, especially emerging talent
- Proven networking capabilities with professional organizations, creative groups, alumni associations and interest in building strong relationships within TWDC
- Strong presentation skills
- Positive attitude and ability to be flexible and multitask in a fast-paced and non-static environment
- Proven ability to solve problems and interact with a wide variety of personalities
- Ability to travel
- Strong knack for finding new and innovative solutions to problems
Preferred Education
Bachelor's degree with emphasis in media, film or theatre, or equivalent work experience
