Media Services Division
FotoKem Media Services has been supporting tape capture, editing and duplication services for 20+ years and naturally expanded into tape to digital media asset migration, archival, mastering, platform and broadcast linear servicing for studios and distributors.
The Role
Master QC Operators will perform detailed and extensive evaluations of video and audio film/TV content. The Master QC Operator must be able to identify video and audio issues and create a report of all findings that is detailed yet easy to read.
Primary Responsibilities
- Must be able to set up a variety of playback systems and VTR decks.
- Must be able to set up monitors and scopes.
- Review provided work orders and specifications and verify correct format, aspect ratio, and audio configuration on source files/tapes.
- Take accurate readings of line counts, audio peaks, etc.
- Provide a thorough and detailed QC report listing all video and audio issues.
- Ability to ensure reports match previous versions completed, as well as verify if new issues are present and not noted in previously completed versions.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical problems with playback systems or other anomalies encountered.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with all team members when passing work over at change of shift, and provide relevant information to others as needed.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines in an efficient manner.
- Ability to provide excellent written and verbal communication to fellow team members, Engineering, Customer Service Representatives, as well as interdepartmental team members.
Required Skills
- Microsoft Word to create and revise QC reports.
- PATH system to locate files across multiple production storage servers.
- Vault System to locate physical elements, i.e. videotapes.
- Media Q production hub to enter relevant data.
- Various file playback systems (Color Front, Iris, Clipster, Resolve, etc.).
- Various videotape decks (HDCAMSR, HDCAM, Digital Betacam).
- Patch bay for video/audio routing and remoting.
Work Environment & Activities
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to view content on large monitors and listen to associated audio, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers, and talk or hear. The employee is required to stand, sit, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee may be required to lift up to 10 pounds. The employee may be required to walk between 2704 and 2801 buildings depending on what QC Bay they are assigned to.
Duties are performed primarily in an office environment using standard office equipment such as computers, copier, etc. Duties are performed in a QC bay, by oneself. Employees need to be comfortable working alone, as well as motivated enough to work with minimal supervision.
