The Vice President, Human Resources will lead Flynt Management Group's (FMG) HR team to provide leadership, strategy and execution in support of the growing the organization. The Head of HR is a key member of the senior leadership team. The Head of HR works with senior leaders to ensure that the HR department's strategies, programs and resources are aligned with and provide appropriate support for FMG's overall business needs and strategies.
The Head of HR leads, organizes, and directs all aspects of the corporate-wide human resources function which includes the following: staffing, leadership development and succession planning, performance management, executive and employee compensation and benefits, employee relations, contract administration, legal matters relating to HR & employment law, payroll, workers compensation, organizational planning and development, and all employment-related compliance.
The Head of HR oversees the development, implementation, communication and interpretation, as well as execution of appropriate and comprehensive personnel policies and programs throughout the organization.
Specific Responsibilities include:
HR Strategy, Planning and Delivery
• Lead and direct strategic HR business planning for the organization and align that planning with the Company's overall strategic business plans and initiatives
• In conjunction with the HR team, collaborate with business units to develop and implement effective organizational structures and staffing plans
• Direct the activities of the HR team
• Improve effectiveness of HR processes and systems to enhance employee experience and drive profitability
• Develop alignment between company values and HR practices
• Staff, build, measure and ensure development of HR team members; cultivate among the HR team a focus on results and a dedication to customer service and satisfaction
• Create, communicate, execute and manage HR budget
Executive and General Compensation
• Work with and make recommendations to develop a compensation philosophy and compensation programs designed to attract, retain and reward high-performing executives
• Develop competitive compensation and benefits programs to attract and retain key employees at all levels throughout the Company
• Work collaboratively with the legal department and others to ensure that compensation policies and practices comply with all applicable laws
• Direct the administration of the Company's bonus and other performance incentive plans, deferred compensation program, equity programs and defined benefit plans
Leadership and Professional/Technical Development and Training
• Help fuel FMG's growth by increasing people and organization capabilities at the business unit/function level aligned with business priorities
• Develop and implement training programs and tools to (i) assist managers supervise and motivate their direct reports and (ii) help employees grow their skills sets and continuously improve their performance
• Lead, develop and keep Company's succession planning current, robust and user-friendly
Performance Leadership/Management
• Ensure that appropriate performance management philosophies, programs and practices are implemented and executed in support of a culture that values accountability and high performance
• Ensure that employees regularly receive feedback on their performance and managers set and properly reinforce clear expectations
Employment Practices, Policies and Employment Law Compliance
• Labor relations ensure that FMG maintains a union-free status in all geographies where that is possible
• Develop, implement and consistently administer employee policies worldwide that comply with applicable law and advance the Company's objectives in the jurisdictions where the Company has offices or operations
• Work with the Company's legal department to reduce legal risk in employment law issues wherever possible
• Work with the Company's legal department to investigate and direct the Company's responses to workplace complaints, including EEO and other discrimination claims
• Create and institute policies and procedures specific to retail (for the 11 stores), including background investigations, selected drug testing and pre-employment testing.
Staffing, Recruiting and Retention
• Lead the continuous creation and execution of effective workforce planning, staffing/recruiting processes and practices that attract and secure high caliber talent
• Ensure development and execution of effective on-boarding/orientation programs
• Ensure optimal levels of talent retention by developing processes to identify key talent and programs designed to make FMG an attractive place of employment for such talent
• Lead employee communications strategy development and execution
• Develop programs designed to enhance employee morale and productivity and recognize employees for their contributions to the Company#*#s success
Requirements include:
• Minimum of 10 years of HR leadership experience in organizations of scale, coupled with a similar layer of complexity with multiple lines of business
• Proven track record in, and mastery of, the key human resource management disciplines and experience as an HR generalist
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to perpetuate and add to the enhancement of the company's reputation and culture
• Bachelors degree, preferably in Human Resources, or related discipline
• MBA or MS in business or Human Resources is preferred
• Demonstrated leadership experience and impact in:
o Legal matters relating to employment law and litigation
o Employee Relations across multiple sites
o Organizational and positional influence
o Developing and implementing innovative solutions, strategies and initiatives
o Executive Compensation in fixed, bonus and incentive pay programs, as well as long term equity and other vehicles
o Broad compensation program development and management
o Senior level/Board level presentations
o Building Leadership teams
o Performance Management in high performance cultures
o Talent assessment and selection
