The Position:
First Look Media is looking for a Director, Financial Planning & Analysis for our New York City office . This is a newly created role reporting to the Senior Vice President, Finance.
The ideal candidate is a professional, hands-on, self-starter who can move seamlessly from independent tasks to acting as a valuable team-player. The candidate possesses intellectual curiosity, strong analytical skills and a strategic mindset with strong attention to detail.
The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic who can work under pressure and who feels comfortable working in a dynamic, rapidly changing multi-stage enterprise. The candidate must be a resourceful leader with refined communication skills, ease with technology, strong problem-solving skills and the ability to build consensus among a variety of cross-functional senior executives.
Responsibilities:
Direct process and development of annual budget, long-term plan and quarterly forecasts. Including projections for operating revenue and expense, cash, capital and manpower plans.
Take ownership of the planning process which includes distribution of planning guidelines to operational leaders, assisting and advising operational leaders in formulating plans and reviewing/refining plans in time to meet deadlines.
Develop, monitor and analyze KPIs, flagging trends and causes of plan variances while making recommendations for meeting plan.
Hands-on financial model-building and maintenance of existing forecast, budget and cash flow models ensuring that models are efficient and periodically evaluating enhancements and revisions as necessary.
Ensure revenue and profit participations function is properly reflected in plans and actual results.
Develop and oversee monthly financial reporting for operating heads, meeting with various department heads to ensure the numbers are reflected correctly and that variances to plan are elevated.
Develop presentation materials for internal and external stakeholders.
Work closely with Accounting team on the quarterly and year end close processes ensuring and guiding that financial results are reflected accurately, elevating issues and recommending resolution.
Be proactive in recommending improvements for efficiencies in financial processes and financial systems posing creative and resourceful solutions.
Work on ad-hoc modeling and analysis projects.
Train, mentor and supervise the skill development of direct reports.
Background & Qualifications:
B.S in Accounting or Finance required, C.P.A. and M.B.A. (Finance) preferred
10-15 years of experience in FP&A and/or Corporate & Operational Finance capacity for a Media & Entertainment company; Film production, Subscription model and/or Not-for-Profit media accounting & finance a significant plus
Strong knowledge of GAAP; high level understanding and experience preparing GAAP statements of cash flow, balance sheet and P&Ls
Advanced analytical skills; complete working knowledge of financial projections, ROIs, valuations
Cash forecasting skills required
Experience in short-term and long-term budgeting, forecasting, rolling forecasts and line of business profitability analysis
Strong modeling skills; experience with developing and maintaining financial models that support strategic initiatives
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, Strong knowledge of Cloud-based ERP systems
Proactive leader-in-the-making
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, under pressure and manage deadlines
Ability to delegate, supervise and motivate people
Highly organized, clear and refined communicator, able to address large groups at all management levels
Demonstrated ability to establish trust and develop strong working relationships with team members of all levels in a hands-on capacity
