Manager, Revenue Accounting
FilmRise, a fast-growing and highly respected film, and TV distribution company, is looking to hire an experienced Manager of Revenue Accounting. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the monthly revenue accounting close, revenue, and cash reporting to business partners and providing technical expertise for revenue recognition. This role reports to the Controller and will work closely with the SVP of Accounting, the SVP of Finance & Treasury, as well as the CFO. This is a transformational role that will lead the effort for bringing FilmRise onto the ASC 606 revenue standard from principally internal cash-basis management reports.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Establish, implement and maintain formal revenue accounting policies, practices, and procedures that adhere to US GAAP and promote strong internal controls
• Compile data from multiple sources; analyze to create and record monthly revenue entries
• Work collaboratively with the finance, legal and sales departments to drive and execute best
• practices for sharing and summarizing data related to revenue recognition
• Execution of monthly AR, revenue, and cash close activities, including reconciliations,
• ensuring accurate results are delivered on time
• Review customer contracts and set up revenue recognition schedules to ensure revenue is recognized in accordance with ASC 606
• Develop, maintain, and update internal control documentation for revenue recognition.
• Compile, analyze and produce monthly, quarterly and annual cash and revenue reports for
• internal and external stakeholders
• Investigate reporting discrepancies and communicate issues as they arrive in a timely manner
• Continue to develop and maintain in-depth P&L and balance sheet analytics to efficiently
• report results to senior management and other functional areas
• Support year-end financial statement audits as well as quarterly reviews
Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
• CPA required
• A minimum of 5-7 years of experience with a combination of public and private accounting
• preferred
• Experience with the ASC 606 Accounting Revenue Standard
• Experience with finance function transformation initiatives
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to interact with senior-level members of the organization to present information and
• make recommendations
• Ability to work proactively, multi-task, as well as think creatively and critically in a fast-
• paced environment
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, capable of analyzing large amounts of data
• Experience with financial reporting
• NetSuite experience preferred
