The Film Musicians' Secondary Markets Fund (the ''Fund'') is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit organization based in Encino, CA and governed by entertainment industry-wide collective bargaining agreements negotiated between the American Federation of Musicians of the United States and Canada (AFL-CIO) and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. The Fund's mission is to collect, process and distribute residual payments to musicians resulting from their work in film, television and digital media. The organization averages a staff of 40 employees and handles approximately $100M in residual distributions each fiscal year.
The Fund's Accountant will support the Finance department in successfully managing the Fund's tax and financial processes. These include filing all tax forms, reconciling, performing regular audits, analyzing business transactions and overall accounting procedures to ensure accurate/reliable and innovative data processes necessary for business operations.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage the monthly financial close process, ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded, reviewing journal entries, account balance reconciliations and report preparation.
Approve financial entries within NetSuite.
Daily monitoring of bank transactions.
Daily review of sweep investment account balance.
Prepare financial statements for review by Comptroller.
Oversee completion of annual financial audit checklist.
Supply Comptroller with unaudited fiscal period income and expense amount information necessary for the system-calculation of annual distribution payroll.
Oversee garnishment process of both employees and Fund participants
Responsible for the preparation of the bi-weekly employee payroll.
Prepare payroll tax liability schedules for payment approval and initiating remittance.
Handle reconciliation of data and report preparation of quarter/annual wage and tax reporting.
Manage quarterly Use Tax statement required by the State.
Manage annual County Business Property Statement.
Supply other written reports.
Assist Comptroller on annual fiscal year budget preparation
Document SOP's
Liaison to third parties, agencies as well as other department heads as directed.
Serve as back-up to Comptroller in the Comptroller's absence.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
1 year NetSuite accounting experience
7+ years of full cycle accounting
Knowledge of bookkeeping
Knowledge auditing
Knowledge of budgeting processes.
Ability to critically analyze data and processes
Must be well organized, detail oriented, and a self-starter
Proficiency with Word and Excel to create account reconciliations
Knowledge of MS Dynamics SL, ACH, fixed assets accounting
ABILITIES/SKILLS
Ability to work with deadlines, and learn concepts quickly
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize workloads
Ability to analyze and resolve issues with minimal supervision
