Film Forum, an acclaimed, 4-screen nonprofit cinema located in lower Manhattan, seeks a dynamic, detail-oriented full-time publicity associate to serve as day-to-day press contact for both premieres and repertory programming and provide general marketing support. Provides self-starting, motivated candidates an opportunity to grow within the organization.
Responsibilities
The publicity associate reports to the Director of Communications, with whom they will work closely to strategize and execute all publicity initiatives, in coordination with programming staff, including:
- Pitching/following up on feature stories, reviews and interviews to print, broadcast, and online outlets.
- Drafting press releases for premieres and repertory programming, including Film Forum Jr.
- Updating and expanding press list as needed
- Monitoring for and disseminating press breaks
- Helping to manage/regularly updating all promotional content on the Film Forum web site and weekly e-mail blasts.
- Researching materials for, proofing, and helping to produce marketing materials (calendars, mailers, etc.)
- Liaising with distributors and talent.
- Contributing to the management of social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram) and community outreach strategy as needed.
- Assisting in after-hours special events occasionally.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Coordinating/running talent press schedules.
- Scheduling and covering press screenings.
- Supervising lobby display/gathering materials.
- Researching/creating press kits when not provided by distributors.
Qualifications and Skills
• Minimum of 2 years' experience working in film publicity, including a working knowledge of NYC-based film journalists
• Excellent writing and proofreading skills required
• Interest in film history preferred
• Excellent communication skills
• Proactive, collaborative, and detail-oriented
• Strong visual sensibility
