POSITION OVERVIEW: Fenway Sports Management (FSM) is seeking a Research Analyst to join its FSG Growth (FSGG) team.
FSGG's work spans across all business units, with a focus on initiatives that will drive the next phase of growth at Fenway Sports Group (FSG) and across its portfolio companies, which include FSM, the Boston Red Sox, FSG Real Estate, Roush Fenway Racing, New England Sports Network and Liverpool Football Club. It is a lean team that works closely with a broad group of senior executives to develop organic and inorganic strategic growth opportunities at FSG and its subsidiaries. This includes sourcing, evaluating, and executing new business and partnership opportunities, as well as strategic acquisitions, investments, and joint ventures.
The Research Analyst will support and guide these initiatives by developing robust, research-based solutions for FSG's strategic and operational priorities at every level. The team is seeking an innovative, analytical thinker who possesses excellent research and communication skills. The ideal candidate is curious, proactive and works effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced setting.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Conduct Research & Analysis; Synthesize Takeaways; and Generate Recommendations
• Build strong industry knowledge and an in-depth understanding of the competitive landscape.
• Monitor trends and transactions across the sports, media and entertainment ecosystem and proactively identify relevant competitive opportunities/threats and best-in-class strategies.
• Compile and summarize relevant research analyst reports and industry insights.
• Conduct in-depth research and prepare analyses of potential strategic partners, acquisition targets or other relevant companies, industries, and transactions.
• Assist in the Creation and Pursuit of Strategic Growth Opportunities
• Support FSG's overall corporate strategy and business development with focus on long term growth.
• Generate interesting inbound and outbound opportunities for growth.
• Further critical projects by conducting market assessments, evaluating potential new businesses initiatives, investments and M&A opportunities and assisting with diligence and financial modeling.
• Prepare presentations, scripts, board materials, and memos on potential opportunities and transactions.
• Help manage day-to-day deal execution, interacting with senior deal team members, transaction counterparties and other advisors.
Build Relationships & Drive Department Goals
• Initiate and develop relationships with sports, media, and entertainment industry personnel.
• Be a hands-on and pro-active team member working in a lean, collaborative environment.
• Provide support as needed across all projects / initiatives within the team and assist with overall department goals.
CHARACTERISTICS/QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's Degree required
• Excellent organizational, research, analytical, and quantitative skills
• Excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills and the ability to quickly learn new software
• Proficiency in financial statement analysis and modeling and valuation techniques preferred
