POSITION OVERVIEW:
Part strategist, part client confidante, part storyteller, and all team-oriented, you will be asked to think ahead on behalf of our clients and help create and sustain trusted client relationships for the agency. This is a client service-driven individual that has experience in the overall sports sponsorship landscape, with experience to make an immediate positive impact in a client-facing role and experience in brand consultation and client service. You will also work alongside the VP, Consulting & Events and will lead our Client Consulting Team. With client service at the core, daily focus will be on strategizing ways to drive success for our corporate clients and our agency. This multi-tasker will play an integral role of the ongoing success of, and will be expected to drive growth of, the Consulting & Events department. FSM is an objective, brand-focused sponsorship consulting agency housed within Fenway Sports Group. This role is focused on leading corporate brands in their sponsorship marketing and activation efforts. It is not a sales or event-execution position.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide excellent sports sponsorship consultation as well as drive superior client service from the Consulting team
• Address all client needs including generating important insights, identifying potential rightsholder partners, procuring the optimal mix of assets, evaluating proposals, providing recommendations based on extensive research and industry knowledge, creating integrated activation programs and leading negotiations with prospective teams, events or leagues.
• Develop deep relationships with all clients and encourage a collaborative approach.
• Leadership responsibilities will include managing, supporting, and growing a team of account representatives who service a broad array of brand clients.
• Business development responsibilities will include organic growth of existing clients, support to the overall new business effort, and the development of meaningful insights that drive strategic direction
• Working alongside the identified account team, provide strategic support to our various corporate clients including but not limited to: Dunkin, Blue Cross, Monster.com, Wasabi, Santander and others.
• Ensure thinking ahead on behalf of our clients to meet their business goals
• Ensure an intimate knowledge of each brand client and provide strategic recommendations to add value
• Handle day-to-day management of multiple projects, facilitating strategic thought on behalf of the brand, as well as providing direction to the account team as needed
• Add to existing expertise with respect to local team/event sponsorships
• Work collaboratively with team members to develop and refine client deliverables
• Provide support and direction on accounts to Managers, working closely with data and insights team
• Work with client teams to create specific and relevant tools of measurement to gauge ROI on sponsorship investments
• Pursue business development opportunities with new and existing clients and potential clients
• Quickly grasp and understand FSM capabilities and service offerings in order to work on multiple opportunities and lead projects
• Expand beyond the specifics of this particular role and support and/or help lead new client pitches
• Help create processes and best practices creating consistency and collaboration amongst the team
CHARACTERISTICS/QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree required
• 8 years of brand strategy/consulting in the sponsorship space with an agency or brand
• Proven client management skills
• Experience in local team sponsorships
• Experience in operations of account management team, including scope creation, pricing consideration, and account protocols
• Experience with syndicated research tools (e.g., YouGov, MVP Index, Scarborough)
• Ability to remain calm and work on multiple projects simultaneously
• Leadership capabilities to motivate team to accomplish goals and develop professional skills
• Ability to foresee issues developing before they arise and develop a solution as needed
• Possess exceptional written and oral communication skills
• Focused with an ambition to help grow the business
• Passion for sports and entertainment marketing, sponsorship and brand consultation
• Must be able to travel, work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
