News Anchor/Writer
Position Summary:
Estrella MediaCo is looking for a dynamic News Anchor/Writer to join our local broadcast and digital news team. The ideal candidate is a strong writer and engaging on-camera presence who can thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. You will be responsible for evaluating, writing, and presenting news content across digital and traditional platforms. This position requires a journalist who is committed, proactive, creative, and deeply connected to issues relevant to the local and national Hispanic audience.
Responsibilities:
• Anchor live and recorded newscasts for digital and streaming platforms, in-studio or on-location.
• Write compelling, accurate, and timely news scripts in Spanish for broadcast using information from various sources (assignment desk, press releases, social media, wires, etc.).
• Evaluate story leads and news tips to develop engaging content that resonates with our viewers.
• Coordinate visual and audio elements (packages, VOs, SOTs, graphics) and manage incoming feeds from field reporters and photographers.
• Assist in editing scripts and videos; ensure all content meets editorial, quality, and FCC standards.
• Maintain constant communication with producers and editors, verifying video/audio quality and story structure.
• Participate in interviews, community outreach, and company events to promote the station and strengthen audience connections.
• Collaborate with digital and production teams to optimize content for web and social platforms.
Requirements:
• Fully bilingual in Spanish and English (written and spoken).
• Minimum 3 years of on-camera experience in news broadcasting.
• Strong writing, editorial judgment, and storytelling skills.
• Knowledgeable in video editing, scriptwriting, and social media publishing.
• Comfortable working under tight deadlines and in high-pressure, fast-paced environments.
• Proficient with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter).
• Familiar with copyright guidelines for digital content.
• Degree in Journalism, Multimedia, Communications, or related field preferred.
Eligibility Requirements:
• Must be willing to work in Burbank, CA [no relocations]
• Must be willing to work long hours, holidays and weekends on short notice.
• Must have legal authorization to work in the United States
• Must possess valid CA Driver's license and a good driving record.
• Must be 18 years or older
