Programming Director
Position Summary:
We are Dallas's KZZA 106.7FM (La Ranchera), KBOC 98.3 FM (Luna), KNOR 93.7 FM fm (La Raza). We are Houston's KQQK 107.9 FM (El Norte), KEYH 850 AM / 101.7 FM (La Ranchera), KTJM 98.5 FM / KJOJ 103.3 FM (La Raza) based in the #4 Hispanic demographic market. The Programming Director will schedule the programming for his/her station, create an image that will increase the station's ratings, and catch the audience's attention at tune in and keep them tuned in.
Responsibilities:
• Organized and creative people who coordinate the content of radio shows.
• Determine the structure of the broadcast, make everything sound slick, create the playlist, track down interviewees, manage the team and make sure everyone knows what they're doing.
• Conjure ideas for forthcoming shows, write scripts and make the most of audience-generated content, such as sound bites and phone-ins.
• Organizational skills to brief the broadcast team before each show, handle any problems when they arise and coordinate the nitty-gritty parts of making a broadcast come together.
• Knowledge of media law to obtain permission for the use of copyrighted material.
• Develop segues by rotating music, commercials and announcements.
• You work with the music director to decide on playlists. You need to create an image that you want the disc jockey to project to increase the station's ratings.
• Aware of the public's interest to create programming that captures --and keeps -- the audience.
Requirements:
• Prior on-air radio experience or similar prior, hands on experience with audio boards or as a Board Operator.
• Strong management skills and the ability to make decisions are skills you must employ to meet deadlines and try to achieve targeted ratings and revenue goals.
• Full knowledge of regional Mexican music and artist.
• Creative, self-motivated with excellent verbal skills.
• Social media skills and web knowledge.
• Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment.
• Ability to read, write and speak Spanish.
• Associate Degree or High School graduate.
• Ability to work weekends, overnights, holidays and special promotional events as needed.
Eligibility Requirements:
• Must be willing to work in Dallas, TX.
• Must be willing to undergo a pre-employment background investigation.
• Must have legal authorization to work in the United States.
• Must be willing to work overtime on short notice.
• Must be 18 years or older.
