This is a Full Time Job
The Talent Producer will contribute to many aspects of Bristol-based guest booking (selecting and contacting) for ESPN's news and information studio shows. Coordinate guest booking (remote and in-studio) with other ESPN entities, including Radio, Event, Dotcom and Digital Media. Consistently communicate and share information with director, talent producers and associate talent producers to provide a strong team atmosphere. Contribute to planning booking projects and provide a consistently heavy load of quality guests to various shows.
Responsibilities
• Works with director, coordinating producers, producers, researchers, etc. to ensure the most appropriate guests are identified and booked for shows.
• Keeps coordinating producers, producers and assignment desk aware of information regarding guests booked and technical requirements (studios, trucks, etc.) needed to get these interviews to air.
• Contributes during breaking news stories and sends updates to department on where we stand with guest requests. Develops and maintains professional relationships with agents, SIDs, athletes and PR people to ensure the best possible cooperation/outcome with booking guests.
• Maintains an extensive database of athletes, coaches, managers, team executives and celebrities and their agents.
• Participates in daily editorial meetings to suggest story ideas and guest possibilities for all shows.
• Works with Sr. Talent Producers and Director to strategically forecast and anticipate needs for guests based on upcoming seasons and news relevancy.
• Books guests and works on long-term projects for Bristol-based news and information shows.
• Works closely with Talent Department to begin to identify potential on-air talent.Keep notes on guests who are particularly strong interview subjects in an effort to strategize on the potential of their post-playing career in broadcasting.
Basic Qualifications
• Strong, consistent communication skills
• Ability to plan and contribute effectively in team environment
• Deep sports knowledge
• Deep sports/entertainment rolodex
• Guest/ talent booking experience
• Knowledge of the media industry
• Ability to function effectively in an atmosphere subject to frequent changes and produce results
• Ability to prepare and submit story ideas/guest segments Ability to react quickly and positively under a wide variety of sensitive and changing production situations
Preferred Qualifications
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in sports media or broadcast industry
• Familiarity with computers, search engines, internet searches.
Required Education
• Bachelor's Degree
