DTCI-Technology operates a high volume and fast-paced environment where it relies on the Transmission Team to provide support for all programming contribution and distribution for The Walt Disney Company.
Transmission is a global content hub facilitating well over 150,000 broadcast and streaming feeds a year supporting events and news feeds for ESPN and ESPN and top tier productions such as Monday Night Football, The BCS Championship and SportsCenter. Transmission also operates highly complex, addressable satellite distribution systems for domestic and international ESPN/ Disney networks. This internship will be a hands-on learning opportunity on state of the art equipment including satellite, fiber, IP and cellular transport technologies in our world class Transmission Operations Center. You will work directly with exceptional industry professionals in a fast-paced ''live'' television environment.
Responsibilities:
This Transmission Intern will provide operational support for some of the responsibilities below.
• Set- up, test and monitor all contribution signals for any ESPN network linear or streaming network or highlight purposes.
• Responsible for the high-quality distribution, switching, and quality control monitoring of all full-time and occasional ESPN networks regardless of the format (linear television, IP, fiber, etc.).
• Ensure accuracy of blackout & regionalization information and accurate transmission of all feeds.
• Signal processing to prepare Video, Audio, and Data content for use in ESPN production facilities including, video level and color adjustment, audio shuffling and level adjustment, lip-sync and video timing.
• Responsible for follow-up and resolution of daily operational problems through direct communication with other ESPN departments and outside companies.
Basic Qualifications:
• Candidates must have good computer background (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc...) and solid communication skills.
• Familiarity with TV Production studio or remote equipment and technology including but not limited to; switchers, audio, high definition cameras, IRD receivers, color correction devices, signal conversion, test equipment and routers.
• Team Player-Enjoy working in a collaborative environment.
• Self-starter, able to work flexible hours including nights and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Familiarity with TV Production studio or remote equipment and technology including but not limited to; switchers, audio, high definition cameras, IRD receivers, color correction devices, signal conversion, test equipment and routers.
Required Education
• Must be enrolled in a college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship.
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program.
• Must possess unrestricted work authorization
• Able to work some flexible hours including nights and weekends.
Program Dates: The length of this internship is 10 weeks, and the approximate dates are June 3– August 10, 2019. Interns will work 40 hours per week.
Location: Bristol, CT
Housing: A limited amount of housing assistance may be available for those who qualify.
Transportation: Limited transportation assistance to and from work may be available for those who qualify.

• Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program.
• Must possess unrestricted work authorization
Location: Bristol, CT
Program Dates: The length of this internship is 10 weeks, and the approximate dates are June 8, 2020– August 14, 2020. Interns will work 40 hours and flexible with working night and/or weekends.
Housing: A limited amount of housing assistance may be available for those who qualify.
Transportation: Limited transportation assistance to and from work may be available for those who qualify.
