Department Overview:
If you have a passion for sports and social media, working for the social integration unit will put you at the cutting edge of the field. Responsibilities will include posting content to various social media accounts (including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram) and working with social media supervisors and TV producers to create social content for on-air executions. Work directly with Original Programming and Production shows such as SportsCenter, SportsNation, Numbers Never Lie, and First Take.
Responsibilities
• Crafts tweets and Facebook posts to support news responsibilities and social TV integrations.
• Creates Photoshop images for posting on various social media platforms.
• Work with Producers and Production Assistants to understand the strategies behind posting on ESPN social platforms.
• Pulls pertinent tweets and sends them to the TV News Desk to support show needs.
• Builds Twitter lists, Facebook lists, and other informational social support systems.
• Provides timely, accurate, and complete analytics reports on ESPN social media endeavors.
• Researches, writes, and disseminates ideas for cross-platform content elements.
• Accountable for strict adherence to established Social Integration department procedures.
• Research new technologies and uses of social media to enhance ESPN shows
• Assist in the daily reporting of big projects and successes from day on social.
• Clipping off special show segments for daily postings on the shows respective YouTube channels.
• Work to identify which third party social platforms could be a partner for ESPN in the future.
• Help create weekly metrics reports for Twitter and Facebook.
Basic Qualifications
• Must possess strong writing and copyediting skills in addition to creative, out of the box thinking and solid news judgment
• Elite knowledge of sports, including current athletes, rules, and events
• Elite knowledge of social media, including a mastery of trends and verbiage on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube and Tumblr
• Experience with Photoshop and video editing systems
Preferred Qualifications
• At least one year of experience in sports media (school newspaper, TV station, etc.)
• Historical knowledge of US sports
• Experience with video editing systems (Final Cut Pro)
• Familiarity with processes and procedures of a television production department
• Familiarity with the sports media landscape, including knowledge of business trends and technologies
Additional Information:
Internship Eligibility:
• Must be enrolled in a college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR be currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program. Note: Once you have completed one consecutive year of employment on a Disney internship or program, there must be a minimum 6 month gap before the start of a new internship or program
• Must possess unrestricted work authorization
• Must provide full work availability, which will include nights, weekends and holidays
• Must provide own transportation to/from work
Program Length:
The length of this internship is 10 weeks, and the approximate dates are June 6, 2016 - August 12, 2016. Interns will work 40 hours per week and must be fully available for the duration of the internship.
Housing:
Subsidized housing is available on a first come, first serve basis for interns who live greater than 50 miles from work location.
