Job Summary:
Creatively leads the assignment of producers and reporters in the field and provides artistic and editorial guidance to the on air execution of field content.
This role blends knowledge of both the assignment desk and field producing while also seamlessly blending logistical and editorial decision making into every coverage. This producer could be embedded with a specific show, or own a field coverage of sport in its entirety – for all platforms. This producer will enhance creative presentation of all content and coverage from the field.
Responsibilities:
Embedded:
• Expert on all field content. Contributes story ideas.
• Embedded Show Editor drives elements and editorial guidance to both show groups and the field.
• Along with a working knowledge of the Assignment Desk, this editor thrives in all roles and situations - including field producing as needed.
• Leads the assigned coverage staff to create and implement compelling coverage for assigned news stories; participates in or leads the development of all reporter coverage.
• Leads our effort to generate more reporter pieces for SportsCenter
• Boils down the most pertinent information from reporters and decides on the best method to execute the content.
• Oversight of budget for daily coverage as well as special projects.
• Leads all interactions with field personnel – including bureau reporters, digital reporters and event production.
Generalist:
• Drives content and coverage, personnel and technology.
• Manages day-to-day functions of the group and personnel with an emphasis on sport groups and technology.
• Numerous creative and logistical decisions on a daily and long-term basis. Both tactical and strategic decision-making is required.
• Leads all communication with show groups and other departments throughout the company.
• Oversight of budget for daily coverage as well as special projects.
Basic Qualifications:
• Embedded - Leading authority on reporter content from the field.
• Generalist – Leading authority on all coverages, personnel and technology.
• Typically has 8 years of progressively complex related production experience
• Must be willing to work nights, weekends, holidays.
Required Education
• High School Diploma or equivalent? work experience
Preferred Education
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent? work experience
