Departmental Summary:
ESPN's Marketing team is a centralized group of strategic brand marketers, leading the overall campaign & media strategy, spending, budgeting and fan engagement, across brands, events, platforms and shows. They work collectively to enhance promotion for critical league partners, inclusive of the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, CFB, NCAA and F1, as well as vital priorities such as ESPN+ (ESPN's leading streaming service), the ESPN App and ESPN BET, among many others. Additionally, they are responsible for fostering a culture that embraces new audience growth with strategies that engage diverse audiences throughout the ESPN ecosystem.
Position Summary:
As the Senior Vice President of Marketing at ESPN, the candidate will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction to the marketing team, driving brand awareness, engagement, and revenue growth across all platforms. The role plays a pivotal part in shaping ESPN's marketing strategies, optimizing campaigns, and maximizing the impact of our brand in the highly competitive sports entertainment landscape. This position will lead ESPN into the future through change management and navigating the Linear, DTC and eventually Flagship environment. This position reports into the EVP Creative Studio & Marketing.
Responsibilities:
• Sets and communicates the strategic vision for all the marketing for all of ESPN, inclusive of all brands, platforms, shows and events, ensuring development and implementation of efficient operations and cost-effective systems to meet current and future needs of the organization.
• This role oversees all creative output for live sports marketing, media strategy, brand, events and more. Responsible for the health of the ESPN Brand and oversees campaigns that drive that health.
• Leads ESPN into becoming a worldwide leader in the Direct to Consumer (DTC) space through innovation, calculated risk taking, and a data driven approach.
• Drives the marketing, advertising, and promotion for critical league partners inclusive of the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, and F1 and vital priorities such as Fantasy Football, the ESPN App and ESPN+, etc.
• Develops short-and long-term marketing strategy in line with corporate plans and goals, designed to cultivate the ESPN and The Walt Disney Company brands, grow revenue, particularly in the evolution and growth of the Direct-to-Consumer space.
• Fosters a culture that embraces new audience growth with strategies that engage youth, women, and diverse audiences through the ESPN ecosystem.
• Responsible for all aspects of the marketing of ESPN's domestic and international media assets, programs, branded products, and services as well as branded trade communications directed at ESPN's business partners including content affiliates, advertisers, and league partners.
• Balances the interests of aggressive revenue growth from brand extensions while maintaining ESPN's brand resonance and strength with the consumer (fan).
• Oversees the strategy for ESPN's paid media and the allocation of owned media assets for marketing and promotional purposes on all platforms, as well as contract media funds, partnerships, etc.
• Maintains relationships with business units and departmental heads, leagues and other rights holder representatives, advertisers, advertising agencies and freelance creative partners, and other key vendors.
• Collaborates with division heads inclusive of research and more to ensure shared insight and service.
• Works with business units to understand specific marketing needs; prioritize needs and allocate resources as appropriate.
Qualifications:
• Minimum of 15 years of experience in Marketing, Media, or a related industry.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience managing a multi layered, and multi-functional team.
• Expert entertainment industry knowledge and consumes sports to the fullest.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills and a cultural staple.
• Persuasive, and robust negotiating skills.
• Exemplary verbal and written communication skills.
• Emotionally intelligent and a vibrant presenter.

Required Education:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Marketing, Business, or a related field.

The hiring range for this position in New York, NY is $277,000 - $372,000 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
