Job Summary:
The ESPN Financial Planning & Analysis team is a multi-functional group that leads the consolidation and analysis of the Sports segment of The Walt Disney Company.
This Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for the consolidation and analysis of the ESPN quarterly close for Finance, partnering with Accounting, Communications, and IR. This includes consolidating close variance analysis provided to ESPN management and Disney. A day in the life may include maintaining ESPN segment close and forecast P&L's, consolidating variance explanations, and developing segment storylines for each quarterly close in preparation for the TWDC earning release. This role will gain exposure to and an understanding of the business by working closely with senior leaders to analyze financial performance and develop actionable insights and recommendations.
Responsibilities:
• Play a key role in driving segment quarterly close analyses, working in partnership with Finance, Accounting, and Operations team members, and summarizing key information for management.
• Compile quarterly close variances for ESPN management and Disney, including Cause of Change analyses, ensuring accurate reflection of segment business operations.
• Maintain the constructional integrity of the ESPN segment P&L by line of business for close, forecasts, AOP and 5YP.
• Prepare materials in support of the quarterly earnings package, working with ESPN Communications and ESPN management on developing the storylines for the quarterly earnings.
• Act as a subject matter expert, along with the Senior Manager, in ESPN's Cognos-based forecast system, regularly consulting with Disney Financial Systems to maintain and improve the system.
• Oversee the maintenance of finance systems, hierarchies and assist in leading finance transformation initiatives including the integration of the ESPN P&L into a new finance system.
• Identify process improvement opportunities and assists with implementation efforts for departmental projects/initiatives.
• Assist the Senior Manager on special projects, as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
• 3+ years of relevant work experience
• Acute attention to detail
• Strong organizational skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Demonstrated experience with managing competing priorities and deadlines
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint, including advanced formula comprehension and ability to create financial presentations
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working with Oracle, Cognos TM1 and SAP
Education
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or other qualitative field
