Job Summary:
The Creative Assistant primarily supports ESPN's Video On Demand services and broadcast productions. Edits already aired content and delivers program assets to ESPN's cable distribution partners and the ESPN app. Occasionally the Creative Assistant will also provide production support to Producers, Creative Coordinators and others in various stages throughout a project within Project Management Group.
Responsibilities:
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
• Edits already aired long form and short form programs for ESPN Video On Demand affiliates and the ESPN app.
• Edits in Q-Cut, publishes assets, and coordinates with operations and technical personnel responsible for encoding and
• transmission
• Makes sound editorial judgments in repurposing ESPN network content for alternate distribution platforms
• Authors metadata with program descriptions and specifications and communicates internally with various departments involved in the process
• Moves media electronically and encodes for required distribution formats
• Handles dub and clipping requests and responds to multi-format conversion needs
• Supports Project Management Team and Concept Design team with internal microsites, department asset library and sound design requests
• Assists Producers and Associate Producers in QC'ing of materials, and proper archiving
• Leverages ESPN libraries and footage servers to screen, log, and clip assets for Creative teams
• Logs and archives projects and associated data for future use
• Assists in preparation for seminars and events
Basic Qualifications:
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and make content decisions
• Good knowledge of Adobe platforms for editing
• Knowledge of US and International sports
• Familiarity with Microsoft based software (Word, Excel, Teams), Powerpoint or Keynote
• Demonstrated communication and organization skills
• Demonstrated ability to react quickly and positively under a wide variety of situations
• Detail oriented, with the ability to multitask and deliver consistently with accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated ability to work well within a team environment, with diverse personalities and working styles
• Must be available to work flexible hours (days of the week, nights, weekends and holidays)
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Communications, or related major
• Minimum one year related sports production experience
• Familiarity with /or non-linear editing software, and Adobe Creative Suite
• Good knowledge of TV production
• Familiarity with ESPN Programming and the sports media landscape.
• Proficiency in Spanish a plus
