Job Title: Production Manager
Location: Bristol, CT or Charlotte, NC
Job Overview:
The Production Manager at ESPN will be responsible for overseeing business operations and workforce planning within the Content division. This includes managing personnel, handling vendor and contract oversight, ensuring legal and policy compliance, and finding efficiencies in workflows to support the division’s content initiatives.
Responsibilities:
• Manage direct reports, providing performance feedback and coaching, and contribute to team development.
• Oversee the management of both internal and external workforce resources for ESPN's Content division.
• Develop efficient processes for engaging and managing resources, including event workers, non-contractual talent, and vendors.
• Ensure resource allocation complies with business needs, contractual obligations, and company policies.
• Track and analyze data to identify trends and efficiencies, ensuring compliance with policies and guidelines.
• Collaborate with various departments and serve as a liaison between stakeholders, representing a neutral perspective when necessary.
• Manage the implementation and enhancement of technology tools, workflows, and processes.
• Conduct training sessions for team members on department policies and procedures.
• Handle complex, confidential materials such as budgets, performance reports, and contractual information.
Daily Tasks May Include:
• Managing content personnel, providing feedback, and handling personnel issues.
• Overseeing the hiring process for temporary or permanent staff, including talent contracts.
• Approving timecards and expense reports in line with company policies.
• Ensuring compliance when creating new vendors in the Disney vendor portal.
• Overseeing resource sourcing, scheduling, and payments for various functions.
Basic Qualifications:
• At least 8 years of experience in management, business operations, production, or logistics at a network level or large market.
• Strong leadership skills, with the ability to provide guidance and feedback to a team.
• Advanced organizational and project management skills, with attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.
• Proficient communication skills, capable of managing high-volume correspondence and leading discussions.
• Ability to handle diverse production and personnel situations that are constantly evolving.
• Advanced knowledge of resource management and business operations, including budgeting and contracts.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, Smartsheet, and video conferencing tools like Zoom.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Familiarity with the sports content landscape and production processes for studio shows, remote events, and digital content.
• Experience in financial management, analytics, and identifying trends in data.
• Familiarity with tools like Slack, Concur, Kronos, SAP, and business intelligence platforms like MicroStrategy.
Education Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Production, Journalism, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• A Master’s degree is preferred.
