Responsibilities
• Coordinate with music staff, legal & music clearance resources on the trafficking, review and organization of music licenses and related music documentation for the Music Department.
• Support the Coordinating Director in the development, maintenance and management of music administration systems.
• Assist Coordinating Director in maintaining records of all direct performance rights secured by ESPN for deals with performing rights organizations.
• Field internal and external enquiries relating to music rights in network productions and content for all third party songs cleared.
• Preparation of Accounts Payable paperwork and & tracking of payments.
• Research and preparation of vendor payee information for all checks processed by the department, as well as handling of all stale-date check issues.
• Prepare and distribute reporting for music usage, payments and compliance for Music Department.
• Compile comprehensive rights summations for television, film and digital content.
• Field internal and external enquiries relating to music rights in network productions and content.
• Generate and distribute quote confirmation letters, license request letters and check transmittal letters the licensing of company owned copyrights.
• Research worldwide distribution and music clearance rights for TV and film product distributed in all media as requested.
• Maintain library of music cue sheets, as well as the distribution and handling of all third party cue sheet requests.
• Update departmental database with song and license fee information for all third party songs cleared.
• Prepare clearance requests, reporting, correspondence and license agreements.
• Research songs to determine publisher and/or master owners of musical pieces requested.
• Report to music staff and/or producers license fees requested by publishers, labels and other music licensors.
• Screen television shows ensuring that all third party licensed music has been used correctly, check music cue sheet accuracy and distribute final music cue sheets.
• Exhibit the ability to train incoming employees on the department's administration functions, workflow and cue sheet management system and administrative systems currently in use. Assists Music Directors and works with Music Coordinators with other music-related projects and tasks, as needed.
Basic Qualifications
• Minimum of 3 years copyright and working in the areas of music clearance, music publishing, publishing administration, music supervision and/or music copyright.
• Knowledge of both Mac and PC operating systems required; including proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel and MS Access.
• Excellent writing, research, analytical and communication skills.Experienced in negotiating/reviewing music contracts.
Preferred Qualifications
• Basic understanding of union and guild issues related to music.
• Rights database familiarity
