This is a Full Time Job
This Managing Producer position will be primarily focused on Event Productions working in direct support of the Coordinating Producer.
Serves as the main liaison between outside producers and ESPN event production. Provides editorial and creative direction to producers/packagers of live events on ESPN . Coordinates the supply of graphics, formats, promos and sales elements. Provides feedback to talent and producers.
Responsibilities
• Builds and maintain production and assignment schedules
• Communicates production details to packagers and school production contacts
• Determine and communicate expected production and technical needs for various sporting events
• Leads feedback seminars for packager and school productions
• Interfaces as required with leagues/teams/schools/coaches
• Interfaces with programming to update and distribute event schedules
• Provides production elements to packagers and school productions including animations, graphic guidelines, formats etc.
• Responsible for working with the Coordinating Producer to determine the budget for assigned events.
• Drives the content and quality of content of assigned sport or production including the storylines of each telecast
• May produce special events and may produce events with multiple locations
• May serve as Coordinating Producer for some events
• Makes production-related decisions and oversees their implementation
• Manages assigned production staff including Talent throughout the entire production (lead-up, on-site, post)
• Implements new ideas for assigned events and may determine the look and feel of assigned telecast
• Ensures emerging stories and breaking news are incorporated into production, and as needed, directs production crew in the implementation of changes
• Uses mastery of sports knowledge and news judgment to determine the agenda, concepts and content of assigned remote telecasts
• Will survey special event venue(s) prior to production planning and telecast
• Manages other production personnel in matrixed telecasts
• May have Direct Reports for the Performance Connection process
Basic Qualifications
• Typically has 8 years of progressively complex related remote or related sports production experience
• Has mastery of the sports production processes.
• Has understanding of various production levels for live digital productions of multiple sports
• Has knowledge of real-time sporting event production, graphics and video editing
• Has and applies knowledge of what story ideas and concepts to use for assigned events
• Has a strong appreciation of popular culture, e.g., ''what's cool'' and assists with defining the tastes of ESPN's viewers
• Has an in-depth understanding of ESPN's market positioning and strategies
• Has an in-depth knowledge of sports and sports history and keeps current on changes and trends in the sports and television industry
• Possesses strong organizational skills
• Possesses ability to work on simultaneous projects
Preferred Qualifications
• Proficient with Excel, Smart Sheet and other organizational tools.
• Proficient with planning and executing webinars.
Required Education
• High School Diploma
Preferred Education
• Bachelor's degree in Communication, Media, Journalism, or related fields.
