Sports Content Producer

Job Summary:
Responsible for creative development, preparation, and production of a variety of sports content, including segments, highlights, teases, features, live event integrations, studio content, and more, to reach ESPN's audience and enhance market penetration, ratings, and viewership across platforms and regions.
Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with senior production staff to identify and develop content that enhances sports storytelling.
• Oversee production of various content types (e.g., highlights, segments, live event integrations) from start to finish.
• Lead a team of production staff (APs, CAs, PAs) in planning and executing highlights, teases, and more.
• Utilize sports expertise and news judgment to research, pitch, and create compelling content.
• Guide staff in selecting topics, highlights, writing, sound, shot selection, and graphics.
• Oversee editing processes to ensure the desired storyline, pacing, and quality, including multilingual aspects when needed.
• Manage necessary components for content creation, such as talent, graphics, and animations.
• Coordinate with technical staff to optimize content delivery across platforms.
• Adjust content for breaking news and evolving storylines.
• Conduct final content reviews to ensure accuracy and quality.
• Manage multi-lingual voiceovers for live and taped event content.
• Handle on-site roles at events, coordinating talent, live hits, and shooting/editing interviews or features.
Leadership Responsibilities:
• Maintain leadership and professionalism in a team environment.
• Supervise direct reports, provide timely feedback, and mentor production staff in idea generation and edit room performance.
• Encourage a diverse set of viewpoints and experiences in content planning and execution.
• Occasionally produce entire programs (event or studio) with guidance from senior production leaders.
Job Requirements:
• Minimum of 5 years in sports content production, with progressive responsibility.
• Strong ability to interpret sports stories and assemble engaging content.
• Knowledge of real-time sports production processes, equipment, and relevant technologies.
• Familiarity with effective content across multiple platforms within given time constraints.
• Strong knowledge of both International and US sports, with particular emphasis on those popular in the Chinese market.
• Native fluency in Mandarin Chinese (simplified Mandarin preferred).
• Understanding of multicultural audiences and editorial judgment.
• Skills in team supervision, time management, and communication.
