Job Summary:
An expert in physical distribution, employing a system approach; ensures the effective delivery of products, providing a defined level of customer service at the most efficient cost.
Responsibilities:
• Provide the first line of defense and identification of potential dangerous and hazardous materials on vehicles destined for the ESPN Bristol campuses. Trained in the recognition of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) delivered in a vehicle to include vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices (VBIEDs), and VBIED recognition.
• Coordinate with ESPN security to ensure inspected vehicles and drivers are authorized and cleared to access campus.
• Inspects/clears delivery vehicles prior to entering ESPN campus only under direct supervision after training is completed.
• Mitigate chemical, biological, radiological nuclear or explosive substances, threatening letters, and white powder hoaxes that pose threats to the organization via packages received and delivered on a daily basis using X-Ray scanning training & techniques.
• In 24/7 communication with contracted third party certified bomb technicians, utilizing high-speed audio and video communications.
• Operates x-ray equipment under supervision after training completed.
• Intake all ESPN deliveries from shipping vendors. Working with speed and accuracy in mail sorting and routing to positively affect overall business efficiency. Sorts and processes incoming and outgoing mail and packages utilizing tracking systems as required.
• Responsible for the pickup/ drop off to the City of Bristol Distribution Center all USPS packages.
• Responsible for the utilization of the leased postal metering equipment utilized to add postage to all outgoing US postal mail on behalf of ESPN.
• Performs daily pick-up and delivery of mail to and from local post office, and pick-up and delivery of incoming, outgoing and inter-office mail among the offices in Bristol.
• Responsible for the sorting and delivery of daily newspapers in a timely manner to ensure the communications team has access to any ESPN pertinent content developed overnight.
• Trained in the use of Trackpad Software, which provides accountability on package intake and outbound deliveries.
• Ensure ESPN compliance with building fire code requiring the weekly inspection and report of all 290 ESPN campus sprinkler valves inspections. Responsible for the reporting of the inspection in the Maximo software system.
• Responsible for ensuring compliance with Battery Shipment policies regulated by federal law on all ESPN shipments. Trained in battery shipment policies and procedures to inspect outbound parcels containing batteries.
• Intake and coordination with Security for the receipt of and proper delivery of flower arrangements for employees.
• Authorized by the State of Connecticut to drive public service vehicles. Serves as a secondary backup for shuttle bus drivers to the facilities security team after obtaining public service driver's license.
• Trained in the operation of Maximo software:
• Account for cleaning supplies housed at the distribution center. Collaborates with the maintenance team to deliver required supplies to designated areas as requested.
• Responsible for completing work orders assigned to distribution including Shred-it bin request and relocation needs.
• Maintain a current list of all ESPN distribution contacts for each ESPN office location worldwide. The comprehensive list is used in the event of an emergencies as well as companywide initiative logistics and general distribution services information.
Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum of 1 year of general work experience
• Must possess a Connecticut drivers license
• Comfortable performing security vehicle inspection after receiving training
• Capable of operating an X-Ray machine after receiving training
• Customer service oriented
• Capable of lifting 20 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:
• 1 year of distribution service experience
