Director I
The Director I is responsible for planning and line-directing live and taped studio, remote, and REMI productions in both conventional and automated control rooms. The Director I will participate in pre- and post-production meetings, contributing ideas to realize the vision of the show. Additionally, they will manage personnel and facilities related to the production and collaborate with Coordinating Producers and Producers to guide content philosophy and execution.
This role requires strong leadership, production, and technical knowledge, as well as the ability to mentor Associate Directors and Stage Managers. The Director I will provide consistent, comprehensive feedback to team members, documenting performance and offering guidance for improvement.
Accountabilities:
• Directs live and taped productions from control rooms or mobile units, executing all aspects of scripted and unscripted shows.
• Codes rundowns and coordinates studio and remote guests during automated productions.
• Provides clear and concise communication of traffic to all production participants.
• Troubleshoots operational issues during live productions in real-time.
• Oversees lighting, camera blocking, visual effects, graphics integration, and timing for quality presentations.
• Participates in meetings with Managers and Producers to develop concepts and editorial themes for productions.
• Works with Associate Directors to manage pre-production elements and ensure rundown accuracy.
• Manages personnel and facilities for assigned projects and interacts with other departments to achieve production goals.
• Provides ongoing feedback to Associate Directors and Stage Managers, documenting performance with detailed examples.
• Contributes to the development of team members by observing and mentoring them outside of show units.
• Takes responsibility for personal development through training and observation, participating in periodic clip review sessions.
• May provide written feedback for various production personnel, including Designers, Graphic Producers, and Coordinating Producers.
• Maintains departmental performance standards in leadership, communication, and personal development.
Qualifications:
• Minimum of 5 years of directing or related experience.
• Proficiency in live directing and production equipment.
• Ability to react quickly and effectively in high-pressure environments.
• Strong interpersonal skills and leadership abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bilingual language skills (Spanish/English) preferred.
