Job Summary:
The Director, Business Strategy role applies ingenuity, creativity, and analytical skills in identifying, creating, and evaluating negotiation strategies and tactics to advance the content distribution business of Disney and ESPN Media Networks. In addition, the Director plays a critical role in providing long-term strategic planning and decision support for new business opportunities and other key initiatives across the media networks and direct-to-consumer segments. The role is under the Affiliate Sales and Marketing department, which is responsible for domestic distribution and licensing for Disney and ESPN networks and content and our direct-to-consumer services, ESPN and Disney .
Responsibilities:
• Lead a team to support business and account priorities.
• Partner with our sales and business development teams in support of traditional (cable, satellite and telco) and emerging (direct-to-consumer, social) content distribution strategies.
• Participate in content distribution deals by creating sales proposals, term sheets and financial analyses for new and on-going negotiations.
• Conduct analyses of key business drivers, trends and new technologies for new products or strategies.
• Develop network-focused analyses for distribution opportunities and areas of competitive advantage.
• Have an in-depth understanding of content distribution and the competitive landscape for ABC, Disney, ESPN, FX, National Geographic and direct-to-consumer services.
Basic Qualifications:
• A minimum of six years of work experience in content distribution or related experience.
• In-depth understanding of licensing agreements, industry landscape and current competitive trends.
• Experience managing in-depth analyses and projects from concept to completion.
• Management experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Media industry experience in a strategic or financial role at media or technology company.
Required Education
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent
