Job Summary:
Working on ESPN's off-platform content team unlike anything else. Each day you'll be challenged to blend creativity, sports knowledge, journalistic instincts, and design skills to produce industry-leading content seen by millions of sports fans. Collaboration, innovation, effort, and fun are at the core of this team and every day is game day.
A Producer II is often the architect of ESPN's off-platform shows (e.g. Quibi, Snapchat) -- Building show rundowns, writing scripts, producing and editing video, leading junior members of the team, and understanding what makes a show created for a mobile audience different than other types of shows. This individual must be organized, skilled in fast-paced working environments, able to recognize the types of content that will thrive in mobile digital/social environments, and available to work nights and weekends. The ideal candidate will also be a student of audience analytics and the evolving OTT landscape.
Responsibilities:
• Produce and edit segments for mobile audience consumption
• Manage two or more junior team members
• Write scripts and collaborate with talen
• Build show rundowns
• Create and maintain content plans for priority projects
• Work within graphics templates optimized for both vertical and horizontal mobile consumption
• Become a subject matter expert on ESPN Digital/Social Production and the OTT landscape and apply that expertise to grow an engaged audience
• Track performance metrics and video analytics in order to enhance production strategy
• Participate with teams internally and externally in the creation and distribution of content that best activates new audiences
• Maintain strong understanding and journalistic sensibility when it comes to sports news
Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum of 8 years of combined media experience with a focus on digital and mobile production
• Proven track record as a people manager
• Experience editing content, especially editing video to the needs and specs of multiple off-platform destinations
• Excellent script writing skills
• Advanced knowledge across a variety of sports including teams, players, and key storylines
• Proficient knowledge of the OTT landscape
• Ability to juggle multiple tasks during a typical work day. In sports, this translates to mostly nights and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Advanced non-linear editing skills (Quantel, Avid, Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop etc.)
• Experience in control room settings
• Track record of successful production for large-scale media channels
• Strong presentation skills
Required Education
• High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred Education
• Bachelor's Degree in a media-related field.
