Digital Audio Producer II - Podcast
Job Summary:
The Digital Audio Producer II will play an integral leadership role in helping execute the vision for a new storytelling podcast series. This role will be responsible for the development and production of premium podcast content offering depth, insight and an original, enterprising approach to sports journalism. Top candidates will have experience in producing and editing podcasts, exceptional editorial judgement, creative writing and production technique, and a passion for great audio storytelling. The role requires someone with an inclusive, innovative approach to storytelling who will play a critical role in all aspects of the launch, and ongoing planning and production of this series.
Responsibilities:
• Participates in the entire editorial process of storytelling podcasts, from idea generation to final production.
• Develops, enhances, and advances specific story ideas and concepts for short and long term planning.
• Works as part of team to produce and edit podcast episodes that are consistent with the content, quality and production standards and practices of ESPN.
• Collaborates with senior producers, reporters, and hosts on interview direction, strategy and technique.
• Demonstrates strong understanding of production principles designed to drive audio consumption across various platforms including but not limited to podcast downloads.
• Helps arrange interviews, on-site shoots and other pre-production needs, including managing recording and remote studio logistics.
• Coordinates aspects of post-production and program distribution.
• Works with research and library assets to identify music, archive materials and other audio resources associated with podcast topics.
• Edits segments, source interviews and episodes in ProTools.
• Works with audio engineer to finalize technical aspects of the series.
• Supervises the compiling and editing of production materials necessary for all relevant platforms.
• Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
• At least 5 years of radio/audio production experience with strong journalistic/editorial instincts and background as a creative storyteller.
• Extensive knowledge of podcasting and digital audio industry.
• Knowledge of a wide range of subject areas related to sports.
• Strong familiarity with ESPN content across all platforms.
• Curiosity; interest in topics beyond sports.
• Outstanding writing, editing and interview skills.
• Thorough understanding of how to operate audio hardware, software and facilities.
• Demonstrated digital editing expertise using ProTools audio editing software.
• Ability to work varied shifts.
• Ability to work quickly and efficiently under deadline pressure.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.Thrives in team setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with digital audio and podcast content production is preferred.
• Sports writing and/or radio experience preferred.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus

• High School Education

• Degree in communications or journalism preferred.
