Full Time Job
This individual manages Social Media platforms and produces segments of a highly interactive show geared to a younger audience. They are responsible for formatting segments of the show in an accurate and entertaining fashion and thoughtfully integrating social and digital media.
This role is specifically tasked with staying abreast of, appropriately using, and teaching others to use, technology and social media to drive show content and creativity.
Responsibilities
• Responsible for assigned posting and content on Facebook/Twitter/Instagram pages for all SC shows and sport specific shows
• Responsible for TV social integrations on assigned editions of SC shows and sport specific shows
• Responsible for reporting daily work and related metrics
• Assist TV talent needs with social platform usage
• Responsible for producing content for sports news shows; can produce elements, segments, documentaries and other pieces from start to finish for air; these shows and segments are primarily produced live to air
• Trains and coaches various production staff across the department on the creative and appropriate use of social media to drive show content
• Responsible for generating and researching content ideas, arranges for talent, graphics, and animations; oversees editing, as assigned, to ensure the desired story line and pacing
• Adjust content to accommodate breaking news situations
• May assist on-air staff to write accurate and informative content as it relates to the shows and segments
• Can produce assigned sports news elements independently with some guidance from the responsible Producer
• Work is reviewed by the responsible Producer at regular intervals and milestones
• Participates in or develops concepts and content for the assigned elements to reach viewers and to increase ESPN's market penetration, rating and viewership
• Operates within the context of ESPN's defined sports news program concepts, objectives and outcomes
• Uses an extensive level of sports knowledge and news judgment to determine the agenda, concepts and content of assigned elements within the sports news show
Basic Qualifications
• Demonstrated experience with social and digital media
• Knowledge of what creative treatments, story ideas and concepts to use for sports news shows
• Has solid production skills related to sporting events
• Has a solid knowledge of live television production dynamics and working knowledge of the equipment and technologies in the control room; able to carry out a broad range of assignment that arrange from segment producing to live broadcasts with little or no preparation time in between
• Has a solid understanding of ESPN's marketing and strategies
• Has strong knowledge of sports and sports history
• Has and applies knowledge regarding technological and social media advances relative to sports news shows
• Superior writing and copy editing skills
• Knowledge of television production and video editing in digital and analog environments
• Technical knowledge required, must have knowledge of what ''works'' on television and what is realistic to accomplish in time allotted for segment production
• Minimum of 3 years of progressively complex related studio or related production experience
Preferred Qualifications
• Has demonstrated experience using interactive social and digital media to drive show content
• Has managed Social Media platforms on behalf of major brands
• Has produced live television or original digital video content
• Conversational Spanish is ideal
Required Education
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
