This is a Part Time Job
This person will be trained in sending editorial news alerts to the ESPN App and the ESPN Fantasy App. This encompasses news, live events, written stories, highlights and more. Regular decisions about which audience will receive the notification, how to tee up the content, verifying the accuracy, tone and style while maintaining our industry-best expectations for speed to fans' lock screens. They will also have shifts where they will be responsible for programming the main news lane of the ESPN App, or the various fantasy index pages that appear on both web and app. This position is in Los Angeles, CA, is part time (29 hours/week) and hours may include nights & weekends.
Responsibilities:
• Editing and maintenance for all of ESPN Mobile App's plus notifications and News programming.
• Daily assessing of content from a variety of sources (includes wire services, partners, ESPN staffers, freelancers, plus interactive elements, social media, live events, audio, and video) to determine how it fits into our daily news coverage and programming needs.
• Evaluating all copy and headlines, provides feedback on all art and video, and works to package this content in a manner that is dynamic enough to entice users to delve deeper into the app.
• Excellent headline writing and ability to present and tell stories in a tight space.
• Showing good judgment in prioritizing all online content for a national audience.
Qualifications:
• Experience in online media content preparation.
• Ability to work in a rapidly changing online environment and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Background or ability to quickly become competent in HTML.
Required Education
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
Preferred Education
• Bachelor's degree in communication arts, journalism or new media or equivalent combination of education experience.
Additional Information:
• Sports take place during nights, weekends and holidays, and those shifts will be regular and required.
• This job takes place in Los Angeles with 4 days/week in office and one available as Work From Home.
