Acc Network - Event Producer I
Job Summary:
The Event Producer (ACC Network) will be responsible for line-producing live, on-air productions at remote sporting events. In addition, will work in conjunction with the Coordinating Producer and 15 school production teams to provide support and guidance on content philosophy and execution. During live event productions, the Event Producer is responsible for the creative direction of assigned remote sports telecasts, as well as on-site management and administration of those telecasts/productions. The following position will be part of ''The ACC Network'' and will be based in Charlotte, NC.
The ACC Network is a new multi-media platform collaboration between ESPN and the Atlantic Coast Conference launching August 2019. Showcasing 27 varsity sports, ACCN will super-serve ACC fans like never before. In addition to football and basketball, ACCN will feature live games and extensive regular season and tournament coverage of lacrosse, soccer, volleyball, softball, baseball and more. Original content and studio shows will provide fans inside access, analysis and storytelling all year long. The Atlantic Coast Conference was established in 1953 and consists of 15 member institutions: Boston College, Clemson, Duke, Georgia Tech, Florida State, NC State, Syracuse, Louisville, Miami, North Carolina, Notre Dame (excluding football), Pittsburgh, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Wake Forest.
Responsibilities:
• The producer will be designated for the ACC Network School Production Project and will play a lead role in the productions, feedback, and relationships with the 15 ACC production teams.
• Line produce various events from the ACC School Control Rooms.
• Mentor the ACC School Production teams on linear and digital productions and provide feedback on their performance.
• Travel to schools upon management's request to observe digital productions and provide feedback.
• Participate in planning and execution of annual ACC School Production summit.
• For assigned sports events, plans and coordinates full scope of remote producing activities of a large full time, temporary, and/or matrixed staff of personnel accountable for program development and production.
• Leads Associate Producers and Production Assistants in all aspects of remote production.
• On-site management activities include: leading the moment-to-moment editorial direction of the content of each assigned remote telecast such as, show content, storylines, replay angles, graphic content, and announcer / commentator information; oversees the activities of assigned remote telecast production crews; resolving security challenges, determining how/when to incorporate late-breaking news into assigned remote telecasts
• Live event responsibilities include: deriving and overseeing the implementation of all production-related decisions at the venue before and during the event, e.g., how, when and what information to communicate to talent for optimum pacing and content, instant replays during breaks in action, application of graphics, whether or not to do post-event interviews and with whom telecasts; participates in the design and implementation of innovative graphics for assigned sports productions
• Pre-production tasks include: evaluating the proposed venue; directing the on-site production arrangements for assigned sports remote telecasts; establishing production schedules up to and through the event; establishing the format and sequence of events for the live broadcast; with the assigned director, determining the technical needs of each assigned remote telecast; oversees and controls the flow of production assets for assigned sports productions
• Ensures the integration of assigned live remote sports telecasts with those of other sports broadcast by ESPN¹s networks
• Directs the conduct of research on sports information to obtain materials necessary for the production of assigned sports events
• Operates within the context of defined sports remote telecasts concepts, objectives and outcomes
• Produces assigned sports telecasts independently with regular guidance from the responsible Coordinating Producer
• Work is reviewed by Coordinating Producer after each remote production
• Provides direct feedback on the performance of assigned production crews
Basic Qualifications:
• Ability to create and produce compelling sports news remote telecasts; generates and executes assigned remote productions, from concept to execution
• Understands sports production processes and has the ability to produce assigned sports events
• Knowledge of real-time sports productions and graphics
• Technological advances in animation, video editing and graphics
• Considerable knowledge of what story ideas and concepts to use for assigned sports events
• A minimum of 5 years of progressively complex related remote or related sports production experience
• Knowledge of college sports and college sports history with a concentration in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Live producing experience in school production facilities.
• Knowledge of technology used in school production facilities.
• Understanding of the evolving technology landscape in the school production industry.
• Understanding of the financial implications of producing live remote sporting events.
• Appreciation of popular culture and assistance in defining ESPN viewer tastes.
Required Education
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Education
• College degree or equivalent.
