Summary
The Payroll Supervisor manages client relationships while overseeing and processing payroll for assigned clients/shows. You will be the first point of contact for all client inquiries pertinent to your own client roster, and the ''escalation'' point of contact for inquiries from your team members' clients.
This key role will help manage, train and educate Payroll Coordinators on processing payroll, best practices in supporting their clients, and properly understanding union requirements in order to ensure payroll accuracy. Tactical proficiency is required for overseeing and processing payroll for all U.S. states, including non-union and union payrolls. Ideal candidates will need to be proficient with various union agreements (IATSE, SAG-AFTRA, DGA, WGA, etc.), locals and guilds for Film, Television, Commercials, and other entertainment verticals. Though systems may provide calculations, the Payroll Supervisor will have advanced expertise in manually breaking down timecards and union agreement for any type of project and explain (to both clients and internal team members) the various requirements and conditions relating to union meal penalties, overtime, turnaround penalty, and forced calls, and will be capable of reviewing timecard breakdowns to identify elements such as incorrect pension rates or missing vacation or holiday calculations.
Responsibilities
• Process incoming payroll, which includes breaking of timecards in accordance with all applicable Federal, State, and Collective Bargaining Agreements
• Provide quality service in assisting and servicing clients in regards to payroll production, tax-related issues, answering pertinent questions, and problem- solving in compliance with company policy and procedure
• Proficient knowledge and utilization of payroll database and Hours-To-Gross systems. Should be familiar with applicable functions, processes and reports: fringe review, invoicing, Hours-To-Gross timecard edits and timecard verification, payroll history reports, cast lists, etc.
• Maintain accurate and acceptable files on each client/show, in accordance with company policy and procedure, and as required for tax incentive, union, declaration of residency, and tax or employment eligibility audits
• Maintain the client relationship as it relates to the timely processing of the client's payroll. This includes responding to questions and resolving payroll issues
• Provide exceptional customer service both to clients externally and internally with colleagues
• Perform other related duties and assignments including special projects to assist in software development
• Provide training and mentoring to other payroll staff
• Perform other projects or duties as assigned

Required Experience
• Four year college degree (preferred) or high school diploma
• Must have a minimum of 5 years' experience in the entertainment payroll industry
• Working knowledge of all U.S. state and federal payroll regulations and familiar with entertainment industry union (IATSE, SAG-AFTRA, DGA, WGA, etc.) collective bargaining agreements
• Multi-level relationship building skills
• Excellent oral and written communication ability
• Ability to work towards team and individual goals
• Knowledge in using an analytical approach to breaking payroll
• Must exhibit sense of urgency with regard to servicing client needs
• Excellent PC skills
• Flexibility to shift priorities as needed to service the team's clients
• Understanding of and commitment to maintaining current knowledge of industry trends, concepts, products and practices
• Must have the ability to break payroll and learn advanced concepts when ready
• Self-motivated, must be able to work independently and within a team environment
• Schedule must be flexible to accommodate workload and client needs
