Summary: The Publicist reports directly to the Head Publicist and supervises junior employees, including Assistant Publicists and Interns. This role is tasked with maintaining and building the client's visibility and reputation by working closely with current and potential clients, media contacts and fellow publicists.
Primary Responsibilities: The Publicist is responsible for developing and executing PR campaigns appropriate to the needs of the assigned clients. This role is also heavily involved in sourcing and pitching to new clients.
Additional responsibilities:
· Identify and pitch to potential new clients
· Create multi-faceted campaigns via national print, broadcast and online media specifically tailored to each artist's needs and package
· Develop and oversee online press strategy with artist development - including premieres and exclusive content placement to ensure proper promotion and completion
· Create compelling content for pitch packages, press releases, social media and other documents
· Schedule and attend weekly client meetings, in person or via phone
· Secure impactful media coverage by developing creative news pitches
· Create, develop and manage relationships with key media outlets and industry influencers
· Identify new opportunities and execute plans to increase client exposure
· Contact local media outlets where artists are touring to secure press coverage
· Evaluate, develop and execute strong social media strategies
· Secure premieres/exclusives/listening parties for individual assets and releases
Requirements:
· In-depth knowledge of current trends in the music industry
· Prior music industry PR experience required
· Able to manage other team members, providing positive feedback and suggestions for improvement
· Able to manage multiple clients and responsibilities while meeting tight deadlines
· Innovative - creative thinker with ability to develop and execute new PR ideas
· Outstanding written and oral communications skills - solid editing and proof-reading skills
· Proficient with Microsoft Office, Gmail, Google Drive, Mailchimp, Basecamp, Cision, Microsoft Word, Excel and search engines
· Attend company or client events when required
