First Assistant Director - Short FIlm

Dutchboy Productions is seeking a 1st Assistant Director for an upcoming short film project. This is a great opportunity for aspiring ADs or those looking to build their on-set experience in a supportive, low-pressure environment.

Shoot Date: March 3rd, 2026 (single-day shoot)
Location: One rented set location
Budget Level: Micro-budget

About the Role:
This is a hands-on, versatile position. As 1st AD, you will be responsible for managing the day's schedule and keeping the shoot on track from start to finish. Given the small size of our crew, we are looking for someone who is comfortable wearing multiple hats - whether that means assisting with actor management, helping keep things organized on set, or jumping in where needed throughout the day.
The film itself is a small-scale production with a limited cast, so the workload is very manageable. That said, we do expect a full day of shooting, so availability for the entire day is required.
What We're Looking For:
We do not require extensive AD experience for this role. What matters most is a solid understanding of set etiquette and on-set operations, and making call sheets, plus a willingness to be flexible and collaborative, and the ability to stay organized and keep things moving smoothly throughout the day.
