Intern - Film Festival Programmer
DTLA Film Festival
Los Angeles, CAPart Time Unpaid Internship
DTLA Film Festival -- the largest film event in burgeoning downtown Los Angeles -- seeks qualified applicants to review films of all genres for screening consideration at its 15th annual edition, Oct. 18-22, 2023.
You will have a film studies background; previous experience as a film festival programmer (reviewer) or industry story analyst (creative executive), or otherwise an in-depth knowledge of past and current cinema. Most of all, you will have a passion for independent film (domestic and international, narrative and documentary). This is a remote position, so you can live anywhere to participate.
We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit media arts organization established in 2008 and dedicated to showcasing independent films in the historic center of the The Film Capital of the World. We also embrace the New Urbanism and the unique cultural, ethnic and gender diversity of DTLA (downtown L.A.) and its surrounding communities (from East Hollywood to Boyle Heights and Eagle Rock to South Park, including Los Feliz, Silver Lake, Echo Park and Highland Park).
Last year, DTLA Film Festival screened more than 100 films of all genres but with an emphasis on diversity (both in front or and behind the camera).
This is strictly a volunteer position but you will enjoy a VIP All-Access Pass for you and your guest to the festival as well invitations to various programming and networking events leading up to it. Work can be done from any location with access to the Internet. Schedule is flexible and largely self-managed but with a minimum time commitment of 4 to 6 hours per week.
Salary/Benefits
This is a remote, volunteer position. However, each festival programmer receives a VIP All-Access Festival Pass +1 to the upcoming festival.
Employer will only allow resumes sent as an attachment.
